Windows 11 Pro 22H2 (OS Build 22621.2361)
I have the AOMEI Backupper software and am having a few problems getting it to do a bacckup of my C: drive. The main problem is when it comes to selecting the drive to which the backup is going it will not select it. I have a WD 1TB external drive which did some backups but extremely slowly but now I have deleted all the original backups and refomatted the drive into exFAT32 and the AOMEI software will still not select it.
Any thoughts anyone?? please.

The maximum file size for exfat32 is 4GB. If you are trying to put an image on the drive it won't like it.
Try NTFS

The max. file size for exFAT is 16 Exabytes or 17,179,869,184 GB

But you should still try NTFS

Ok Ghot and Navy the drive is in exFAT so I will reformat it to NTFS and see what happens.

The external drive must be physically big enough to hold the backups, too.
I assume you already know this.

At normal (default) compression, the backups will be around 1/2 the size of the used space on the Windows drive (C:\)

Ok I have reinstalled the AOMEI software and it has now recognised the external drive and backing up the C: drive quite quickly. Now I have to find how to fix the wretched snipping tool as it is now saving to the clipboard??

Yes, that's the way it works for me. But after a snip, I can click on the snipping tool icon in my taskbar (it shows as active), there is an icon to save the snip.

Thanks Ghot and yes glasscutter I had the snipping tool pinned to the taskbar and it has that clipboard nonsense attached and when I unpinned it and then re-pinned the tool to the taskbar it worked perfectly and I can only put it down to having a few issues over the last few days and maybe a Windows update?? giving it's two cents worth. Really annoying all the same.

Isn't there a thread somewhere about how really bad the snipping tool is?
I think I deleted mine. When I hit the Print Screen key, I want the image of my desktop screen to go to the Clip Board, where I'm used to seeing it, for decades and numerous versions of Windows.
From the Clip Board, I can quickly and easily Paste the image into my Photo Editor, "Photo Filtre".

Cheers Mates,
TM

Yes mate I think you are right and I wish that I could find it because the app seems to me to have got way too convoluted as opposed to the old snipping tool we had ie: say Windows 7 version.

If you have access to a windows 10 machine, you can get the old snipping too back in Windows 11.
If you do not have windows 10 access, and would like to have it, I can upload it it to the cloud for you.

Thanks Glasskuter I shall get it back as the current version is way too convoluted making it hard to use easily ;-)

Strange! I've never even heard about a snipping tool, till I read people complaining about it. Now from all I've heard, I don't want it either. Ignorance is Bliss. Truly!

Before there ever was a snipping tool, I was using a neat little program from France, called "Photo Filtre".
Still using it today, and I use it almost every day. I use it for screen capture and for editing every picture I take.
I call it the poor man's Photo Shop. Did I mention, it's FREE?
I keep a shortcut to it in my Quick Launch Task bar.

Ok Technomage2021 I will have to look at that alternative as getting the old snipping tool back then involves a lot of copying the files for it and then a bit of a rigamarole to replace the current version on my machines as I have deleted the Windows.old from my laptop and hence the nuisance of getting back from my remaining Windows 10 machine.
By the by I have used the snipping tool from Windows 7 and later and it was easy back then but good old Microsoft took it into their collective heads to replace it with the current Snip and Sketch in Windows 11- a really bad move in my mind but I suppose they thought it was progress!! It is quite annoying that they do supple changes like this it spoils the OS when they do eh?
