Hi,

How come Blu-ray Players are no longer being made the newest I can find is from 2019. What’s being produced instead of Blu-ray Players?

Netflix, Disney+, Crave. Prime Video, etc. Those are the latest trends in home entertainment.

And the ones you can find are absolute garbage, lucky if you get a year out of one. I've got a old Sony player that's got 2,000+ hours on it and it still works perfectly fine.

While I have never seen any internal Blu-Ray drives, they are around if you look under External Optical Drives. The newest I found is this year. The latest models are either faster burners (x16 write speeds), support Ultra-HD Blu-Ray or support USB3.

If they stop making blu ray players, what’s the point of them releasing blu ray movies if you can’t get a new blu ray player other than old ones from 2019 or before.

I don’t mean for pcs, sorry I’m talking about stand-alone with tvs.

New released movies are playable on old bluray players. It is just a player. There's no difference.

Could anyone recommend one on Amazon that, when I play a blu ray it remembers where it is when I stop it.

I've owned several different players over the last few years. My current one is a Panasonic DP-UB820. (It's a 4k player.)

It allows resuming with some disks, but not all.

I'm unfamiliar with the details, but apparently it depends on some coding on the disk.

In the US, retail stores appear to be cutting back on floor space for movie disks. Manufacturers are not creating new models of standalone players. I think that digital movie disks may be going the way of Laser Disks. (Remember them?) Disks are better than streaming, but probably not enough better for most people.

I've always went with the Sony Players. I can't answer your question about the resume feature. My three players are so old and very rarely used that I can't remember if they did or not.

When looking at the Blu-ray players on Amazon, you can go the questions and do a search for resume.

My feelings if going to buy a BluRay player at this time might well get one plays 4K at least here is some recommendations.
Not sure how much willing to spend, didn't put England site. First one i have, it has resume feel most do from Sony.

The main downside to the Sony UBP-X800M2 is that if you want to play Dolby Vision video (I've only seen that on UHD disks), it has to be selected manually. Every other player that I know of that supports Dolby Vision selects it automatically.

Not a big deal. Some find that annoying.

I had one of the older UBP-X800 players that didn't support DV at all. It was made of stamped steel rather than plastic, and felt a lot more solid than any other player I've owned (except for an Oppo 203).

Or this one: Panasonic DP-UB450 It appears to be not for sale in the US. The main thing it appears to lack over the more expensive DP-UB820 is the display. The DP-UB420 sold in the US doesn't do Dolby Vision.

True, but don't see enough Dolby Vision these days more HDR 10 with Discs, most may not use this as there main streaming device, i don't
Netflix tends to use DV the most. I use USB the feature because have a lot of Video files.

One thing i found out with video files it does not support Dolby Digital Plus on video files through USB.
This is a 2019 model compared to other player i listed to OP, but still gets updates periodically.
