I recently installed a new 2TB M.2 SSD into my HP Zbook 17 G5 laptop when it boots up the order in which it boots up is different to the old way , I cloned the old drive onto the new drive using Macrium Reflect, I still have the old SSD installed in case there are any problems with the new drive but have is disabled, when I look in the Bios settings the old drive is first in the list, anyone know why this is and if the list needs updating how I go about it.

You should be able to get into the Bios before windows starts up and change the boot order so that the that the new one is first. The manual should tell you how.

If you get into the bios, what do you see that refers to a drive?
Also, HP puts all its manuals on line

The BIOS is reading the devices according to the physical ports they are connected to, the first one is seen as disabled, which is what you wanted and the machine boots from the new drive, there is no need to make any changes really.

The physical order of drives makes no difference to the computer it will boot from the Windows Boot Manager (since the machine is using UEFI) which can be on any drive.
The only issue you might face is when/ if you re enable the original drive there may be a drive ID conflict after cloning.

Depending on how you go about setting the drives up it is also possible for Windows to install the Boot Manager on a different drive than the one on which Windows is installed which can lead to a non booting system if the old drive is removed, it is generally a good idea to keep other drives disabled/ disconnected while installing Windows to avoid such situations..

Digitalgoat, I wont be removing the original drive as it is on the system board and i dont have the skill set to remove it but sometime in the future i would like to wipe that drive and move all my music to it, so would WBM be on the new drive I installed?

And if you drag the old SSD above the new one what happens when you exit the BIOS and boot up again.

A word of caution: I have an ASUS MoBo and until I removed the second SSD (the first SSD was all I needed) I could choose which I wanted to go to just by dragging up.

Yes since you cloned the old drive to the new and didn't install Windows to it, so all the partitions including the EFI would have been copied across.

It doesnt give me the optio to drag the SSDs up or down, it just highlights all the drives together.
