Bsod and freezes daily (DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION)

hi, i am having trouble with my pc latly.

I am running in to random crashes. Sometimes with a BSOD and sometimes only with restarts.
The whole thing happens in different situations. Sometimes when playing games (Cyberpunk, Guild Wars 2) and sometimes just in between.

Programs that are usually also running:
- Discord
- Opera GX
- Elgato Wave Link

In the last few weeks it was rare, but since today several times a day.

I have tried everything possible for me and am now looking for help here.

The computer is using Volume MAK to activate Windows.

i didnt know that. i got the pc as a gift less then a year ago from a friend

You're overacting and going way overboard with the accusations. That rule says the following:

"4.No piracy or discussion of piracy allowed at all. Such as software, music, videos, and other intellectual property violations (e.g., downloading youtube videos locally, etc.) - it is forum policy that no help shall be given to people who knowingly steal software or services."

Even if his Windows has a Volume MAK - it's not your place to make such accusations. Beyond that - he didn't say a single word which relates to piracy (in any way - not even indirectly). Nor do his issue arise from using some patch/crack to run Windows and such. That being said... you jumping the gun like that - is more like a personal attack - since only a Microsoft official has the right to question his Windows Key.

For start uninstall ASUS Armory (sometimes does more harm than good) and also uninstall Vanguard (despite being a legit app - runs at the highest privilege - as a Kernel driver with Ring 0 privilege - and that can cause this type of issues for various reasons) - just to make sure this are not among the culprits. I also see you're using a older BIOS (3801 - released in 2021/08/12) - while latest version is 4702 (released in 2023/11/01), which is the 6th BIOS update - after the version you're using: ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero | Gaming motherboards｜ROG - Republic of Gamers｜ROG Global

What i did since last post:
- deinstalled armory crate
- updated amd Chipset
- Updated bios
- deinstalled and freshly reinstalled Nvidia gpu driver
- deinstalled vanguard

After the last Restart it know seems that it is working again. I could played cyberpunk for like 30min. what was not possible before. before it crashed at starting the game.

I again added the new v2 log and will know monitor if any crashes will happen in the next days.

I tried to some testing with benchmarking in unigine 2 superposition benchmark with 1080p Medium settings.

5 sec after starting it crashed again.

Looking at the Crash Dumps - latest BSOD crashes are tied to your nVidia card: nvlddmkm NVIDIA Corporation DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

Probably a Driver issue - since it shows two different versions of drivers installed for your GPU. The Driver registered during the crash is Version 546.33 (which was released last month December 2023), yet - while checking the other system info - shows you're also using the latest Version 551.23 (released this month). That being said, do a proper driver clean-up using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). Here's a step by step guide on how to do that properly:

Download the latest nVidia Driver for your GPU - but Studio version, as in:


Also download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and extract it.

Followed by NVCleanstall

Next press Win Key + R and type msconfig - click on the Boot tab and check Safe Bot - then restart in Safe Mode. Unplug your Network Cable or Disable your Ethernet/Wi-Fi. While in Safe Mode - run msconfig again - go to the same tab and uncheck Safe Bot - "but do not restart yet" Run DDU from the extracted location - select nVidia GPU and clean/remove all nVidia content - while selecting to restart after completion.

After booting into Windows - start NVCleanstall and select Use Driver File on Disk click on Browse - and select the NVIDIA Driver you already downloaded. Next, do a clean install following this basic guide:


Might ask you to reboot after it's done - do just that. But before you start the benchmark tool - download GPU-Z - extract and run this tool while clicking on "Sensors" tab - which shows both the GPU Temperatures and the hotspot. Overheating - is usually another "fail-safe" cause for BSOD. Now start the benchmark - while checking the temperatures (there's also the option to Log to file - at left corner).

thanks for your help. it seems that helped. I will monitor the next days (hopefully).

Multiple crashes today again. i have still no clue why.

Done today:
- win update
- checked all cables in pc
- checked again the temperatures

i would love it if someone finds another solution or has an idea

Unfortunately, my problem has still not been fixed. I still get bluescreens from time to time. The bluescreen is not daily anymore, but still there.

What i have done since my last post:

- send in my gpu (to gigabyte) for fixing
- bought and tried a new psu (gave it back, because it fixed nothing)
- changed cpu --> same cpu model
- changed motherboard --> Rog Strix 450-F Gaming

All those things didnt help.

What I also tried, but which raised more questions for me:

- switched my RTX 4070ti to my old GTX 1080 --> after switching i have no problems with bluescreens
- tried to switch my ram to my old one (DDR4-RAM - 8GB 2666MHz Crucial Ballistix Sport LT) --> but after that my i got a bluescreen instantly with the message that the windows boot file is corrupted or not found.


So i hope that someone has a new idea what the problem can be.
