Hi guys,

Sorry for a dumb question but I never experienced a dying GPU, and I feel like I'm experiencing one right now. So ever since yesterday my PC completely just gave me a blank screen (while browsing web), and a few seconds after my fan went to 100%. After rebooting my PC a couple of times (it failed a few times), my PC completely froze after logging in. This happened basically till I finally reinstalled my PC, and even during the installation my fan went to 100%. So I finally unplugged it, and I feel like issue is resolved? Because ever since I unplugged my GPU (GTX 1080), I am not experiencing anything bad, and hopefully it will stay this way :D

I also tried to at least revert back driver, cuz I thought that it might be because of that, but right after I unninstalled it (for some reason my whole taskbar froze and I only saw unninstalling wheel which was running for like 10 minutes), I got a White Screen of Dead and Red Screen of Dead one-by-one.

A simple answer to your question...yes. The not so simple answer....that's not the only failing component/cause of such issues and sometimes troubleshooting hardware comes down to the process of elimination. You did the right thing. If you reverted to using your integrated graphics and it solved the problem, the GPU/and/or its driver package would be the #1 suspect.

The logs that zbook is asking for can be analyzed to give more pertinent information to a failure.

The thing is that I didn't getany BSOD otherwise I would use WhoCrashed and go from there, but with such a short window after each reboot, I felt like there is no other way, and to just reinstall the whole PC, as I at that point just thought that maybe just a weird driver etc. which would a clean install revert this, but during the installation at like 98% GPU started acting weirdly.

Later today I will plug GPU back to my old PC, and test it there.

I strongly recommend you have a backup plan so that clean installs aren't necessary. Reverting to an image made when the system was running correctly can save a lot of man-hours when troubleshooting issues. System images are your best friend.

Since it's a 8 years old GPU, when is the last time - the video card was cleaned and changed the thermal paste?

Download TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.60.0 Download - for monitoring temperatures.

And FurMark Downloads - for stressing the GPU. See if it gets to high, possibly freezing or screen going blank (while forced to shutdown - this being a safety feature - so it doesn't burn).

2 years ago. Temperature was on 60-70°C in most of the heavy games like Wukong, but yeah. I did a few more troubleshootings even on my old PC which originally had GTX 1080 (I was waiting for 5000 series), so I only upgraded everything except of GPU and Monitor (still at 1080p), and it's safe to say that GPU died. It behaved exactly same like even my friend who had GTX 1080 Ti (which also died on him a few months ago), and he confirmed that it just froze after getting into a Windows > Blank Screen > Repeat till it completely died.

Also ever since I switched to integrated GPU, and unplugged faulty GPU from Motherboard non of the problems that I experienced showed up.

Many times BSOD are missed by computer end users.

Who crashed and Blue screen view were not designed to determine whether a computer did or did not have a BSOD.

I don't get the point of this topic - if you already concluded that. I mean, this is the troubleshooting section of the forum - and the way you put it in the official post - sounded like you were trying to troubleshoot the GPU. Thus, people were trying to help (a free service - might i add). And now you make it sound like... you were just venting and only interested in a confirmation bias.😐
