I don't like the new snap features, so I've turned them off.

I used every so often the simple snap feature of having one folder snap to the right of the screen, and another snap to the left.
I can't seem to get this simple feature to work anymore.

Can I get it back?

Hello mate, :alien:

Snap should be the same in Windows 11.

Double check below to make sure you have Snap turned on.

Afterwards, you should be able to snap a window how you want like below.

To add to this, ensure that your monitor resolution is set to the recommended setting.

If its off in any way on the screen, use the button navigation on your monitor to set it to factory defaults so it aligns with the screen properly.

I've had a quick look at the suggestions above but still can't get it to work like it used to.

When (for example) when I snap the documents folder, the folder splits into two, one half showing what is in the documents folder, the other half is taken up with "docmuments 23 items" and below that "select a single file to get more information and share your cloud content".

My display has all the recommended settings.

I'll have to have a look tomorrow now as I'm off out. Thanks for the replies.

I've read that some programs can cause problems with snap working.

It's not a feature that I used a lot but it is disappointing that I can't get it to work, especially when it worked in Windows 10 without any problems.
The new snap feature seems overly complicated.

These settings are from Windows 8.1 which make so much more sense to me than the settings now available in W11.
(Ignore the red, this is a screenshot I found online).

I'm wondering if open-shell could be causing a problem?

Try snipping tool to record a video showing whats happening and post it here.

And maybe an example of what you expect to happen.

This is just how the new File Explorer behaves on Windows 11. The old one (from Windows 10) can be brought back with ExplorerPatcher (i.e. by changing the Control Interface setting to Windows 10 Ribbon in the File Explorer section of its settings window panel). Another way to get it back (on Windows 11 version 23H2) is this: Restore Classic File Explorer with Ribbon in Windows 11 Tutorial

I have been using ExplorerPatcher alongside Open-Shell since about a week after Windows 11 officially came out. Hands down, the combination of these two are the single most important reason why I didn't move back on Windows 10. There now, I've said what needed to be said. 😂

There is a script to re-enable SNAP.
It's available here, in zip form.

I don't personally use SNAP, so I can't guarantee if that script works.
Might be worth a try.

Kind of hard to decipher what you've got going on, or, what's wrong, in that video!

This is basic snapping, as far as I understand it...,

If what you mean by split in half, it looks as if the Preview Pane is taking up half your Explorer real estate, turn it off.
