I was searching the forum for this option. I would like to pin the power options to my taskbar.
Anybody knows how to do that?

I am using W11 pre-release 22523 on my Mac with Parallels 17.1.1.

The way I read your post, it could be referring to two different things.
If you happen to be referring to power options in control panel make a shortcut to
"C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe" /k %windir%\system32\control.exe /name Microsoft.PowerOptions
Name your shortcut Power Options
On desktop right click on the shortcut you made and change its icon (otherwise it will look like a regular cmd icon)
Then right click on the new icon and select pin to taskbar, delete icon from desktop if you wish

If you are referring to Power Menu there's no way to get the entire power menu in one shortcut that I've been able to find. @JMedlock83 suggestion will only shut the computer down.
I had to make 3 separate shortcuts on my desktop. Restart and Shutdown can be pinned to the taskbar, Sleep cannot.

If you want icon for RESTART make shortcut to C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /t 0

Another shortcut for SHUTDOWN is C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0

Making a shortcut for SLEEP is not as straightforward but with the help of @SlicEnDicE I was able to do it. You can see that post HERE.
To accomplish this, Unzip the 2 attached files. Copy the sleep.bat and sleep.vbs to the root of your C: drive
On desktop make a shortcut to C:\Sleep.vbs name it Sleep
Give it a new icon. Due to Windows restrictions you will not be able to pin this one to your taskbar.

(If you want to view the contents of the files open them with notepad)
If you don't want to mess with a bunch of shortcuts you can access the power menu with keyboard shortcut Win key+x

Hi glasskuter,

These 2 worked for me
If you want icon for RESTART make shortcut to C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /t 0
Another shortcut for SHUTDOWN is C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi, Gerd, and welcome to ElevenForum!

It's customary here for the recipient of help to thank the helping member by clicking the Like (thumb up) icon at the bottom of the helper's post, and then clicking either Like, Helpful, or Great Support. That action both thanks the helper and gives him or her some additional credit on this site toward rank and badges.

Consider doing that when you have a moment.

And welcome again.

Per the thread title, "can I pin the power options to the taskbar?"

I already have the shortcut icons sitting on my desktop, but I want them to reside on the Taskbar like I could in Win10/8/7/etc.

On a computer where I had done that in Win10 and did an in-place upgrade to Win11, the shortcuts stayed on the Taskbar after the upgrade, but now on a new computer that arrived with Win11 installed, I can't drag the shortcuts to pin them to the Taskbar.

EUREKA! I figured out a way!

- open any third-party app (I used CoreTemp) & pin it to the Taskbar
- close the app (just to be safe)
- <right-click> on the newly-created Taskbar icon
- <right-click> again on the name of the app in the pop-up
- click on Properties
- replace the "Target:" with the new one, e.g. "C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /f /t 00"
- replace the "Start in:" with the new one, e.g. "C:\windows\system32"
- click on "Change Icon..." to choose a new icon
- click on the General tab and rename the shortcut, e.g. "Shutdown"

You may need to restart Explorer to see the full effect of the change (i.e. to display the new icon), or a reboot will do the same.

So, now I have my trusty Shutdown & Restart icons right where I want them: On the Taskbar!
