Can you make phone calls with Phone Link app and talk through the computer headset?

I’m trying to make phone calls from my windows 11 computer using a wired USB headset with mic connected to the computer, but the audio on the PC headset is choppy. Any way to troubleshoot this?

Any help much appreciated.

Windows 10 Home.
Motherboard Gigabyte B550M DS3H
Google Pixel 6a phone.

That Gigabyte model number shows as a motherboard so would ask if the headset has a microphone in it or if a separate microphone is also plugged in. In the 'olden' days when I worked [30+ years] I had to use noise-cancelling microphones and they had to be almost touching my mouth, couldn't do much movement of my head.
