Solved Can't find drivers for Microsoft Surface Pro

As mentioned in another thread when updating to the next build...

Stuck on 21H2 and can't seem to update to 23H2

...since this is leading to additional problems, I've decided to open up a new thread since I can't seem to find the (network) drivers for a "Surface Laptop Studio Model 1964 i5" at this website link

Since the machine can't connect online and download updated drivers that way, I opened up the Surface App (which was already pre-installed) so have the model number mentioned and the build, but I don't see anything corresponding to it at that website.

Is there another place somebody could point me to?

Any help would be most appreciated, thanks.

Can you get internet from another device by USB or Bluetooth tethering? You can then download Snappy Driver Installer. The full version is a very large database with all the drivers, you don't need that, it is for Computer Technicians. The Lite version downloads the code application and then scans your computer for devices and downloads only the ones for your computer. WARNING: Don't update any driver (blue text on the list), especially on tablets because you may lose touch, rotation and other functionality. Install only missing drivers (green text).

PS: In case you cannot get internet from other device by tethering, you can either use a Wireless USB dongle temporarily or download the full version (35GB) and copy it to a USB flash drive.

Can you tether to the net via your phone? (Bluetooth)

Disregard my last input because I had already asked it in the last thread.

Personally, I’d just run the latest Windows Install and start over. Hopefully the drivers will get installed. I’d guess yes.
Have you considered this?

Why do a clean installation if it is only a driver issue? I wouldn't do that, I would rather spend some time to fix it than spend hours to reinstall Windows if I had many data to backup and many applications to reinstall and reconfigure. Are you sure the driver pack in your link is applicable to your model of surface? Don't search only with the generic description "Surface...", if possible use the part number or the serial number to find the appropriate download. In case you installed the wrong Intel chipset drivers (among others) you can lose features like, touch, rotation, sensors, Wi-Fi (your case) or sound. I have seen this happening on other tablets. The only way to restore these features it to install the specific chipset drivers provided by the manufacturer, anything else simply doesn't work. In worst case you may even have to format and reinstall Windows! That's why I said to NEVER touch installed drivers (blue text) with Snappy or other driver tool. Install strictly only the missing drivers (green text).

It says in the documentation that this is false alarm. I have used Snappy many times without any issues.

Nope, no way to dongle or anything. I believe my drivers are at that website. It's just a matter of finding the right ones.

I figured I could just download the drivers from another machine using that website in my first post, put them on a USB and then run any .exe or .msi installers that way. It works that way using any other brand of laptop, only MS makes it difficult to pick which one (from that website), so that's why I thought somebody here might be able to help decipher which one(s) I need to download.

The exact name of the model is in my first post in "quotes", but I have a couple of dropdowns on that website that are very similar to one another. Which one to pick from?

Just choose the dropdown for choose your surface model and choose surface studio. Then pick the generation you have. If you are not certain which gen you have because the surface app does not tell you, it is probably gen 1.

You can use Speccy or Aida64 or similar utility to see exactly the model you have. If you cannot understand from the Summary section, in Aida64 you can go to Computer -> DMI -> System to find the part number and the serial number of the computer (or motherboard if it is a built from parts one).

Could be. I bought it back in early 2022 when it had 21H2 on it. It had been sitting in the closet unused for the last 6 months.

I'll do that when I get home, thanks.

I mean once I can connect this machine to the internet, I'll be able to download any driver updates in the usual way. The trick is getting there from that very unhelpful website.

If you’re game, you could use something like CCleaner driver updater to see if it offers anything. I’ve not personally used it.

If you followed the original drivers page, (scroll to the middle) and picked Surface Laptop Studio, there's only (2) Studio models:

If you had a Studio 2 model, it would say Studio 2 on the outside. After that, it's matter of following the Link and figuring out which OS versions are available (W10 22H2, W11 21H2 or 23H2).

Actually there's no writing on the outside. Wish there was. Just the Windows logo.

Or any stickers on the bottom, so I don't know if there's a "2" in there somewhere or not. At least I didn't see it in the Surface App that I quoted in my first post.
