Solved Can't stop mouse from double-clicking every time I try to single-click.

I have tried adjusting this in Win 11's version of Control Panel and rebooting. To no avail. A good example is when I click on a checkbox, a check mark appears and then disappears due to an involuntary and rapid double-click. Sometimes it takes several attempts to get the checkbox to work. I also get two new tabs when I click on the plus sign to open a new tab in FireFox. Very new HP laptop with a cheapie logitech mouse with just "logi" on the label. I don't use the touchpad or the touchscreen.

Is the mouse wired or wireless?
It could be the left mouse button is just going bad. They have very tiny switches and are easy to break.
I broke one with a golf game. The swing gauge takes three clicks to complete a swing.

I wore out the left mouse button, in a couple months. :-)

As you haven’t specified the mouse, maybe you could look for any accompanying software for it.

If it’s a Logi Pop, they generally integrate with the laptops seamlessly, as I have found.

Well for that you can apparently install Logi Options+ but I don’t know. Again, it’s a simple mouse that integrates easily (supposedly) I have had experience with one of these also. It lasted 2 months from memory. I get these small logi mice for when my wife travels.

It could just be faulty.
The most recent I bought my wife was a Logi Pop. It’s lasted a while, she loves it, I hate the feel of it in my hand. She wouldn’t let me throw it out of the car window though.

You're right 510. I might have been thinking of my old Levis'. It seems to be only available refurbished, now.

Yeah 510 would be a much better mouse. I can still get them new in Australia, I see them in the US on Amazon.

My friend @Edwin and I, between us probably have about 163 Logitech mice. Highly exaggerated but non the less true.
My G502 Hero is my favourite because I love forgetting which of the 50 buttons does what.

I broke out my funky, dirty old M510 from 2017, and the same thing occurs. I'll try to adjust things in Control Panel in the morning. It's bedtime here in Northern California after yet another triple digit level hot day.

I've had a couple of those, it's really hit-n-miss, from a quality perspective, including sensitivity.
In my experience with Logitech, you gotta spend more to get more.
Once I upgraded to MX Master series, I've never looked back.

Great idea, thanks! The problem persists with the buttons switched. I'm going to go ahead and spring for a new mouse. Any recommendations for just simple, everyday use? I don't draw or do any other kind of fancy stuff like gaming. The Logitech Signature M650 L Full Size Wireless Mouse has nearly 11K reviews that are about 78% positive with Bluetooth which would allow me to free up one of the "super speed" USB-A ports.
