Capturing Screenshots with Optimum Quality?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone knew of any programs to make taking screenshots truly high quality.

On the rare occasion I do take a screenshot that needs to be high quality here is what I do:

  1. Right click on desktop, open display settings
  2. Click scale, and set to 175%
  3. Open the program to take a screenshot in, for example, MS word.
  4. Zoom in (if able to) in the program.
  5. Take the screenshot using Windows + Shift + S
And this gives you a screenshot like this:

High quality, easy to read, everything perfect for helping people out.

Is there an easier way to go about this? If I still have scaling on 100% and take a Snipping tool screenshot I get this:

So, what is this strange post? Semi tutorial - semi asking for advice. What if I want a bigger screenshot that when I zoom in on it, it will be high quality. Hmmm..

I actually have a photoshop subscription, which I assume would do the same things, but would you recommend me to get Paintshop anyways?

Photoshop can do much better.

When you resize an image, there should be a few different options for how the program resamples the image.
The best I can do with PSP 7.04 is bicubic resample.

PSP 7.04 is pretty fast though.
I've been using it so long... I don't even have to read the options anymore.


The program itself is laid out fairly well. Menu across the top, icons down the left side.

Yes. I think generally screenshots can't be improved much.. PSP convinces me for its legacy layout that I love.

Install directory for PSP 7.04 and the Animation Shop 3 that comes with... is 150MB.


I've had this GIF for ages. Today is the 1st time I noticed that she moves her fore finger like the second hand on a clock, when she says... Tick, tick, tick tick. :-)
