Group Policy Editor is the main one.
It always starts too small so you have to drag it out and then expand the left pane so so you can read the contents.
Unlike most apps, it doesn't hold size settings for next time.
Any way of fixing this? The windows size defaults must be defined somewhere...

The only thing that is defined is if a user right clicks on an app's exe or shortcut to an exe and selects properties, You have 3 options...normal window, minimized, and maximized. This option does not exist for windows apps.

I have no issues with windows remembering how I manually set my windows size by dragging its edges. It will remember my sizing every single time and open that app in the same size the next time. However, if one uses snap feature and snaps a window that has been manually sized into a snap layout, then closes that window BEFORE returning the window to its original size (by double clicking on the title bar), Windows will open that app the next time at the size it was in the snap frame when it was closed.

See this 22.5 year-old thread: Why doesn't the XP MMC window remember it's size/position?

Another method is to open the MSC module from outside the MMC, then change its window position and size. Closing the window should save its position and size so it should be remembered when you open the module inside the MMC after that.

Woo hoo! That was so easy and it took XP to fix it. LOL.
Thanks to hdmi for the fix!
It wouldn't let me save it in system32 because of privileges but saved elsewhere to try for now.
1 problem down, more to go.
Since we're on a roll, now for the next problems with gpedit:

I find that if I click View, Customise and select something unchecked, like Action pane (which WILL appear) and hit Ok, or even just hit Ok, Gpedit will close after a few seconds.
Can someone see if this happens for you too?
Seems buggy there but Gpedit shows as v1.0 and a few years old too, never a good sign.
I tried it with lusrmgr.msc and that did the same.
I activated the standard Administrator account, logged in and tried it there too with the same result.
I shutdown all likely culprits- Av software, Power toys, Displayfusion, gadgets etc etc - same deal.
I ran MMC and tried customising the view - worked fine, so not MMC itself.
Another issue albeit intermittent, is that when an input dialogue popup opens with Gpedit it appears off screen on the 2nd monitor.
This has only happened with Gpedit, so far anyway.

Yes, I did see that post but not the fix.
However...as of yesterday it has resolved, along with the black screen after 1 minute at login screen issue!
That's 6 W11 issues gone this week!
Soon I'll have a problem free W11 pc. LOL. Something will crop up, no doubt...
As to why the GPedit and lock screen issues went away, I need to narrow it down...
