This tutorial will show you how to check if Windows Mixed Reality is supported by your Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC.
Windows 10 and Windows 11 powers Windows Mixed Reality on variety of headsets across a diverse set of PC hardware. The power of your PC will determine what experiences you can have. With higher end PCs, you get some extra capabilities and features:
- Crisper visuals and a higher refresh rate.
- More apps and experiences—including the most graphics-intensive games.
- A ‘’mirror’’ window on your desktop that shows what you see in mixed reality.
- Record and share videos and photos of your mixed reality experiences.
Remember, your performance will vary depending on your exact setup. You'll also need to make sure your PC has the right ports for the Windows Mixed Reality immersive headset that you're using.
If your PC supports Windows Mixed Reality, you an purchase any of the publicly available Windows Mixed Reality immersive headsets from various global retailers. You can also find headsets at the online Microsoft Store, all of which can be used for mixed reality development.

Windows Mixed Reality is deprecated and will be removed in a future release of Windows. This deprecation includes the Mixed Reality Portal app, and Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR and Steam VR Beta.
Here's How:
1 Open the Mixed Reality Portal app.
Download
2 Click/tap on Start setup and check your PC. (see screenshot below)
3 Click/tap on I agree. (see screenshot below)
4 You will now get an analysis of your PC against the required hardware, drivers, and operating system. (see screenshots below)
You will get one of the following messages:
- Good to go = Your PC is ready to run mixed reality games and experiences.
- Supports some features = Your PC can run some mixed reality experiences.
- Can't run mixed reality = This PC doesn't meet the minimum requirements needed to run Windows Mixed Reality.

5 If your PC supports Windows Mixed Reality, then you can continue (if wanted) to install and setup Windows Mixed Reality.
