Hi folks
Any good recommendation for decent HDD's (classical spinners) for a 24/7 security video operation. Some HDD's run hideously hot and noisy while other are almost silent and run without any heat issues whatsoever.

a 4, 5, or 6 TB device would be ideal -- the 6 TB one would have enough data backlog for what I need -- but even the 4TB one would be OK.

From "Cannibalizing" an older computer I've found by far the only 2 HDD;'s that seem to run without heat or noise issues are a 4TB WD Blue device (would like a slightly bigger capacity one) and a 16 TB Toshiba HDD -- far too much --mega overkill. All HDD's had 128 cache size (important) and 7200 rpm. The 5TB devices were the worst of the lot --got really hot and noisy, while the 6TB performed a bit better but still got quite hot -- so I'd be unhappy to leave them running unattended 24/7.

Any recommendations here --the 4TB device is just too small -- a 6TB device would be ideal. Heat and noise are the main considerations here.

Cheers
jimbo
