Windows 11 Pro. Version 23H2, Build 10.0.22631
Once again, I am asking for help on a project of mine.

Situation:
My file system for photos is set up like this: D:\Photos\Year\Month\Day. In the Day folder, there may be up to 31 individual sub-folders. Some of them contain as many as 200 or so different photos.
What I want to do is simplify the process of moving all the individual photos from the Day folders to the Month folder.
I have been using cut and paste to move the photos but it is proving to be an extremely tedious process.

I did a search online, but almost everything is related to a specific program or app. There is surely a simple way to do this, either in W-11 directly or on cmd.

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Tom R.

Just built it for something to do. Used mostly for backup for important stuff.
You could try this:-
First run the attached Registration Entry files. ( I got these from Brink and they work in both W10 and W11).
These will add a "copy to folder" and "move to folder" option to the File Explorer drop down menu.
In the Month folder type kind:image in the search box/bar.
Then select all the entries displayed, right click, then select either the "move to folder"or "copy to folder"option, and then navigate to the desired destination folder.
Not super fast, but perhaps faster than what you've been doing.

I have batch script which you can use to backup folders contents it will make full backup and then incrementally, ie, it just copies the new files and changed files.

There are 3rd party file managers that can help. One is FreeCommander (Redirect link). In it, there's a {Ctrl}{B} key sequence to view files in sub-folders (Redirect link) as a flat structure. It also works with filters, if you want to see / exclude certain file types. You can then move everything in one shot. The free version is excellent, and will do the job.

If you go this route, I recommend - at least for starters - that during install, you NOT select the option to replace Windows Explorer with FreeCommander as the default.

Hope this helps.
