Have an Aorus X570 PRO WIFI mobo running latest Win 11. C; drive is 1TB and am running out of space. Bought Samsung EVO PRO 2tb to migrate to. Completely forgot that the original C: drive was a M.2 SATA drive. The Samsung drive is a Nvme M.2 drive. Installed the Samsung in the second M.2 slot so I could image it as the current C: drive but when I rebooted after the install, I got the BAD POOL HEADER. Checked the mobo user manal and it states either Nvme or SATA in the M.2 slots, not a combination. Removed the Samsung but still getting the error. I had to register a new user ID (normal ID is rzn6jw) because all my info is on the original drive and even after 'restoring' the original using Macrium from my latest backup I'm still getting the error. Since I had shutdown the PC for this installation, I do not have any logs available.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Can't get past the POST when it starts to run a diagnosis and that's where it fails. Also, while I'm in the BIOS, the boot order shows the drive as 'Windows Boot Loader' (drive model), ex CT1000xxxxx with all my other drives below that. Seems to me that with Windows 11, the BIOS shouldn't show any boot drives other than the GPT drive that windows is on. When I restored the C: drive earlier, the information Macrium gave was that the backup was from a GPT drive recovering to a GPT drive. So at this point I'm confused that the BIOS isn't recognizing that the boot drive is GPT.

After each bluescreen, diagnostics would run. One result was if I'd like to restore Windows. I figured what the heck, haven't got anything to lose because if a new Windows install wouldn't load, I'd probably have to replace the hardware. So I went ahead with the cloud install and after install my PC booted into Windows. I rebooted several times to make sure that it worked. Then I used Macrium to restore Windows (with all my data and programs) from a backup made over the weekend. That worked great. So now I'm back at my desktop and all is well. Still have no idea what the BAD POOL HEADER was but have a ticket open with Gigabyte. Will post their solution here if I get any.

The recent Reflect v8.1.7367 update is supposed to resolve the BAD_POOL_HEADER exception.

Bug fixes and Improvements v8.1.7367 - 7th February 2023
  • Changed Block Tracker
    • We've resolved a rare BAD_POOL_HEADER exception caused by an I/O error raised when CBT read a highly fragmented NTFS Master File table (MFT).
  • Disk Images
    • v8.1 images could take longer to restore if the image file storage medium was a bottleneck in the restore process. This has been resolved.
    • On some CPUs and disk drive combinations, Reflect v8.1 manual image verification could be noticeable slower than Reflect v8.0. This has been resolved.
    • Some customers have reported a slower backup speed to Network Attached Storage. This has been improved.
    • Adjusting the CPU priority slider to the 1st or 2nd position will now also reduce the maximum CPU usage to mitigate system slowdown when creating images.
    • Some image backups fail with error code 995. This has been resolved.
  • General
    • The Email parameters for skipped backups are now correctly localized for the currently selected language.
