In Edge I have my cookies set to clear on exit. I have a whitelist of sites that are saved. This works fine, but when I select a new tab on the toolbar it takes me to the google search page but asks me to accept cookies. If I do this then exit Edge and go back in it will ask me to accept cookies again. There is no web address on the Google page to allow me to add it to the whitelist. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Bear, welcome to the Eleven Forums.
Do you have delete/clear history etc on closeing browser or tabs. What’s in the “Cookies & Site Permissions” section in the settings?
(Full disclosure, I don’t use Edge and can’t reinstall it to check due to removing it with a script I can not reverse)

Do you use CCleaner? You can whitelist Google in there I believe, or add it to protect the cookies.

Thanks. I clear browsing history and cookies when exiting. My whitelist (see image above) works fine as it doesn't delete those. The problem is that new tab in Edge takes me to that last image I posted above and there is no web address that I can use to whitelist it. Whereas if you go to google seach page you get a web address of www.google.co.uk and if you wanted to you could whitelist that. I don't use CCleaner, but I use Wise Care 365

I have fixed this by turning off cookies on 'clear browsing data on close' in settings. It also fixed a problem I had with Flickr cookies. I have always been unsure about cookies building up when they are not deleted. Is this a problem, or am I just worryong about nothing?

This is my settings page now

I can’t see why. I don’t believe old cookies hold any danger in being idle. I have similar settings on my browser. I always turn off the clear cookies option and I use cookie manager to save sessions. Glad you sorted it.
