Hello,

I just upgraded to Windows 11 and my Corsair k100 rgb optical ketboard sometimes just doesn't light up or respond after the waking the computer.
Not even a restart or power cycle helps it which makes me think Windows 11 somehow crashes the keyboard when putting the computer to sleep.

I have to replug the USB connection to get it to detect the keyboard.

Hello,

I just upgraded to Windows 11 and my Corsair k100 rgb optical ketboard sometimes just doesn't light up or respond after the waking the computer.

Did you check to see if you have the latest version of Corsair's iCUE software installed?

You might also ask about in their forums to see if anyone else is having the same issues. I say that because I've seen some issues reported about iCUE and some of their peripherals there.

I don't have any of their peripherals, but I have their RGB RAM, fans, and AIO, so I use iCUE. No issues with those. Also running 11.

I'm not surprised the USB suspend trick didn't work as it's never been the cause of iCUE issues. Anyway, as I said, perhaps you should check the Corsair forums for your issue.

Good luck.

OK, at least I *think* I found some progress on what's going on.

I used ASUS Armory Crate "Update Center" to update an "ASUS HAL Central" and some "PRIME Z490-A" things that looks like some software development stuff.

The behavior now changes to:
"The last USB device you connected to this computer has malfunctioned and windows doesn't recognize it" popup when replugging the USB.

Requires an actual power cycle now to solve it! lol

So there must be something going on with the my motherboard an it's drivers...concerning K100 at least. It says it's "ready", and these are both "gaming industry" stuff so you'd figure they'd have tested this before claiming readiness.

Something new discovered.
Unplugging the "USB Passthrough" will allow the K100 to be recognized on replug without a power cycle. I guess it's not exactly a "passthrough" that means. It must be integrated with the keyboard circuit and I suppose?

Both checked and unchecked didn't work.
I even tried a BIOS setting of "USB power delivery in Soft Off state (SS)".

Both checked and unchecked didn't work.
I even tried a BIOS setting of "USB power delivery in Soft Off state (SS)".
Power delivery is for supplying power over the USB cable, has nothing to do with USB data.

Then something isn't playing nicely with something else. Have you tried the Corsair forums as @Dru2 mentioned? It's either Corsair software or ASUS software interfering.

Well I have to admit the answer given to you by the "Corsair employee" was rather useless since the answer he gave has about a .5 percent of a chance of being the issue. He basically blamed everything but them. It's like someone saying my new car won't start, and some "tech" person saying check the gas you got isn't 10 years old. Really :cautious:

Anyway, have you tried resetting the keyboard? Apparently there's a procedure to reset it. Or you could try this.

OK, new development again. After trying all these things and more, I decided to try Windows 10 reinstall and guess what?
The problem persists in Windows 10! lol

The K100 keyboard detect issue doesn't seem to happen on a different (older) Windows 10 computer so...that leaves the motherboard and/or drivers that go with it I think. The last BIOS I had prior to updating it for "Windows 11 upgrade", can't be reFlashed for some reason. I think ASUS codes legacy decommission into the Flash Tool. Like the BIOS now starts with "2" and those starting with "1" and "0" are invalid. And the oldest "2" version doesn't solve the issue. So I can't even bring the motherboard to the original state to try it. :(

An older K70 keyboard I have does work fine so I'm thinking it must be compatibility issues with the new K100.

OK, this is really weird.
I enabled XMP on the motherboard and it significantly improved the keyboard detection. It's not 100%...but very noticeable.
Does that even make sense? Would "speed of detection" somehow make a difference? Or is it just pure coincidence.
At this point I'm thinking of buying a new motherboard. lol

It makes me think of this time when I had another weird issue, and someone told me to try reseating the RAM and see what happens and it actually solved it. But he couldn't explain why it did solve things sometimes.
