Is it possible to create a bootable USB drive for Windows 10 and Windows 11, instead of having 2 separate Bootable USB Drives? I have 2 computers, and the other computer absolutely will not install Windows 11, so that's why I am asking.

yes. Several ways to do it, including but not limited to:

copy the entire contents of win11 iso to usb
rename the sources folder on the usb stick to sources11
copy only the sources folder from win10 iso to the usb stick.
the usb stick now has sources folder as well as the sources11 folder

combi-usb1.jpg

copy the boot.wim from sources11 folder to the sources folder. Rename it to something sensible like boot11.wim.
The sources folder now cotains boot.wim ( which is the windows 10 one ) and boot11.wim

combi-usb2.jpg

add a boot menu entry to point at boot11.wim.

when you boot the usb stick you will have a menu that says
windows setup ( for win10 )
boot11.wim

if you select windows setup it is just the normal win10 installation.

If you select boot11.wim , you will have to point setup.exe at the sources11 folder, which can be done easily by typing at cmd prompt :

x:\setup.exe /installfrom <path>\install.wim ( in this case usbletter:\sources11\install.wim )

it is also simple to include a little cmd file which will offer that when boot11.wim loads.

There is an exxtra step if you want to use fat32 because it has a 4gb filesize limit. Split the win10 install.wim into two so each .swm file is less than 4gb. And split the win11 install.wim into two so each .swm is less than 4gb.

then the command would be
x:\setup.exe /installfrom <path>\install.swm

Or, you can simply use Ventoy. Load up as many ISOs as your drive can hold, and boot from any one.

For anybody interested, a simple gui way to add a boot menu entry for winpe using bootice ( can also be done with commands)

dot "other bcd file" and browse to the bcd store you want to change

combi-usb3.jpg

combi-usb4.jpg

highlight the entry you want to copy

combi-usb5.jpg

click duplicate this entry

combi-usb6.jpg

then dble clcik the Description of the new entry and change it to whatever name you want

combi-usb7.jpg

dble click the osdevice and change it to the wim name , in this case it would be boot11.wim

combi-usb8.jpg

combi-usb9.jpg

dble click the ApplicationDevice and change it to the wim name, in this case boot11.wim

combi-usb10.jpg

combi-usb11.jpg

thats it.

If you have a bunch of bootable .wim files you can add as many as you like as long as you have named them differently.

so macrium buffs could rename the macrium boot.wim to something like macriummachine1.wim and pop it in the sources folder then add the entry as above. If there a different one for machine 2 , then name it macriummachine2.wim and add another bcd entry etc.

I agree with @Subscriber43. Why jump through all those hoops when Ventoy does it for you. One of the best iso tools I've ever used.

The tool is only of use if you do not modify install.wim which I do a lot.

For standard isos, I just create a bootable usb on demand - takes about 2 minutes maximum.

Never found a need for Ventoy - solution to a problem I never had.

@cereberus I guess what impresses me most about using Ventoy is I can use a couple of 32 bit flash drives and have all my Windows installs on one bootable drive and have all my Linux and bootable tools on another rather than have 15 separate drives which tend to lose their labels or hide from me. And how easy is is to add or remove an installation from a drive. It's more convenient if I take my drives someplace else as well.

On my 64G USB drive I have created two partitions. One 2G FAT32 and one large NTFS
On the 2G FAT32 I have created a Win10XPE - Rescue Media . It is a boot able WinPE with a lot of tools.
On the large NTFS I have a folder with Win 10 installation files, another with Win 11 installation files, and another Win 7 installation files and many other folders with with installation files.
For example, to install Win 10, I boot from the Rescue Media, open Explorer, browse to win 10 folder and run setup.exe.

Do you have the instructions on how to use Ventoy?
Simple, have a 32GB+ USB and be sure it's backed up as the stick will be used for ISO Files (the program will format the USB for it to be used). Once you have the program DL'ed extract the files to download folder. Double click THE .EXE File. Choose the USB and install the program on the USB then once done copy any ISOs to the USB and once done open the program again and click update (which will apply the ISOs files copied

This is the correct procedure, but I will add:

Be sure to select GPT from the Ventoy menu, else the USB will boot in MBR mode, and you will get an error if trying to install Windows on a system with UEFI and Secure boot enabled. With GPT mode, you get the choice to boot either GPT or MBR.

Also, it is not necessary to click "Update". This is only required if the version of Ventoy on your computer is different than the one on the USB drive.

Yeah when you go to the boot manager of your machine it will be MBR or UEFI/GPT. Also in the future the company does update but you'll have redo the process but lately the updates are nearly minor. You can proceed to update the ISOs on newer DL'd program when removing/adding new one's

A USB 3.0 in the Express Card Slot
Simple, have a 32GB+ USB and be sure it's backed up as the stick will be used for ISO Files (the program will format the USB for it to be used). Once you have the program DL'ed extract the files to download folder. Double click THE .EXE File. Choose the USB and install the program on the USB then once done copy any ISOs to the USB and once done open the program again and click update (which will apply the ISOs files copied
I'm going to attempt to do this now

This is the correct procedure, but I will add:

Be sure to select GPT from the Ventoy menu, else the USB will boot in MBR mode, and you will get an error if trying to install Windows on a system with UEFI and Secure boot enabled. With GPT mode, you get the choice to boot either GPT or MBR.

Also, it is not necessary to click "Update". This is only required if the version of Ventoy on your computer is different than the one on the USB drive.
Additional:

Enable Secure Boot support to Ventoy if you will boot to a PC without disabling Secure Boot.

Since both ISO files equal 12.8GB, can I just use a 16GB Flash Drive?
