Hi forum,

Is there a way to make the "about:blank" page dark (=black)? I am aware of the "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents" flag in Edge. But it forces all web pages to appear dark (=high contrast).

Best I could come up with:
chrome://new-tab-page-third-party/
with dark theme color, all shortcuts removed...

Thanks for your suggestion. I am decreasing extensions! I have installed just four of them (two of them are disabled, and I launch them every time I need them). I am trying to solve the problem by browser capabilities, not the extensions.

I don't mark this thread as "Solved", because the solution is not based on browser settings. But I found a trick! Create a blank HTML with dark background colour code then save it in c drive (root) and hide it and set it as the home page! (local path as the home page).

What about Microsoft Edge?! :eyeroll:
I have found this:

There is a setting at

edge://flags/#enable-force-dark

that you can enable to set dark mode on the about:blank page as well as menus.

You can set the new tab page settings to remove everything except the work “Microsoft” and a search bar right in the middle of the page. The rest will be black. No extensions necessary if that’s good enough for you. (Ignore the context menu not my screenshot - Google) IMG_5922.jpeg
