OS
windows 11
Seems it could have been about anything from Dell. 7,8, or 10 or Linux,

Is there any way to tell, It must have had an OS, likely a windows one.

Seller says Windows 10 Home (installed, not activated), what do you suppose that means?

Just picked 10 home?

How do you install windows or know what version to install to a former wiped windows PC and will it pick up the prior hardware registration and auto activate?

Also, on a different Dell PC with no OS, there is a windows 10 sticker?

Does that look like win 10 pro or home to you

Does is have a COA sticker along with the license key displayed? According to a Dell support page for the 5559 laptop it says "If you have a 7th gen Intel processor, your system cannot downgrade to Windows 7/8/8.1" Suggesting the downgrade option seems to mean it might have shipped with Win10?

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.

the 5559 has no stickers at all on the back side. What you say makes sense if the laptop shipped with 10.
I saw mention it could have shipped with 7, 8 or 10
as there are quick start guides for each.

I say it's Windows 10 Home edition, as all computer manufacturers installed this version install this version to see it activates if not use the service tag to find out which edition.

This guide explains how to find the service tag of a computer and why you might need to.

A note: OEM computers that came with Windows 8 only had a sticker showing the version number, no Certificate of Authenticity or Product Key. I have Dells and HP that have that type sticker, it was a change with Win8. There may be more information on a sticker in the battery compartment.

I tried the service TAG earlier and it gives no original config info. I was wondering if it does that as it is too old, no longer has any support.

tag is 714HBG2

I saw one advertised on E-Bay and the sticker on it showed 2015. The description showed the CPU as a 6th Generation. I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 with Win11 with a Core i5-4200 CPU from 2014 but I had to tweak it to do so.

At the Dell logo, press the F12 several times to access the One Time Boot Menu. The available boot options are displayed in the menu.
Ok, if I get it will do various things to figure it out. I don't have physical possession yet. I am trying to see how difficult the process would be.

Seller says Windows 10 Home (installed, not activated), what do you suppose that means?
It might mean that no Windows 10 licence exists for that computer.
