I do not see the correct subforum to post this. But since in my previous thread, there were poster who have this laptop... or the similar 9510, what sleeve do you use for this laptop? I want a sleeve so for when carrying it outside. And when I mean that, it would already be in a messenger bag I have.

I had an old amazon 15.6 inch sleeve I bought years ago for the dell xps 15 9550 and it was good fit. But it is really dirty so need another sleeve for the new xps 15 9520.

I purchased a 15.6' sleeve online and after I put the laptop in the sleeve, there seem to be 1 inch of space in width/height after you put the laptop in the laptop sleeve and close it and have the sleeve horizontal. I noticed the new xps 15 9520 is thinner than the older xps 15 9550. The new 15.6' sleeve also seem to be a tiny bit bigger than my old 15.6' sleeve.

How do you know if the sleeve is too big? I know if it is too small, well that would mean you could barely close it with the zipper. Here, you can close it and there seem to still be a decent amount of space width/heightwise. I see sleeves are measured with length, width and thickness.

How much space is there suppose to be from the top of the sleeve to the top of your laptop when holding the sleeve horizontally? I can't even find pictures online where it shows if it is the right fit or not. But with this sleeve, it seems there is 1 inch of space for the laptop to move. Is that too much?

Yes, 1 inch is too much, 3/4inch would be ideal.

As long as it fits, I don't think there is really an ideal amount of extra space. Whatever extra space you have is just space being taken up inside of your other bag.

I just carry my laptop in my bag, I don't put it into anything else.

Yes, 1 inch is too much, 3/4inch would be ideal.
Is this a serious post or not? So 1/2 inch would be too little?

I want to know what is the range the amount of space should be. Because... is it possible my old amazon sleeve with my old xps 15 9550 which i consider a good fit... actually maybe a bit tight?

However, if i put the old xps 15 9550 into this new 15.6' sleeve I bought, there isn't that much space that is noticeable because the new 9520 is thinner than the 9550.

I think the idea is the laptop doesn't move around, too tight and the laptop wouldn't fit in it properly.

I just compared my old xps 15 9550 with the new xps 15 9520 again. And the older 9550 is clearly bigger.

The dimensions of the xps 15 9520 according to dell site is

  • Dimensions & Weight
    Height : 0.73 in. (18.54 mm)
    Width: 13.56 in. (344.40 mm)
    Depth: 9.06 in. (230.10 mm)

Does this mean a 14 inch laptop sleeve is preferred because of the width? How much width and depth and height should the sleeve be around for it to be the correct fit?

Again I have no idea about this as years ago when I bought a 15.6' inch amazon sleeve, it seem to fit good with the xps 15 9550.

But a 15.6' inch sleeve I just bought now, it seems too big for the new xps 15 9520 because it doesn't seem tight at all and can wobble. What dimensions do i need to look for here?

Yea it fits. But it seems too big though. I read that isn't good because if it moves around inside and loose, it doesn't give that much protection for drops compared to snug fit?

I bought this voova 14-15.6 inch sleeve. The specs are

Compatible Devices - Internal dimensions: 15.6 x 11 x 0.8 inches, compatible with most 14-15.6 inch laptops computers or notebooks like Macbook Pro/Air/Surface book/Dell XPS/HP/Lenovo/Acer/Dell/Asus/Samsung Chromebook etc.

Amazon.com

So from looking at those specs compared to my xps 15 9520, that is too big right? It is more than 2 inches wider. It is about 2 inches taller in depth/height. And the rear height or thickness... it is a tiny bit bigger which is normal right?

From what I read online, you want the width to be about few cm or 1 inch or even 2 inch longer. This is a bit more than 2 inch longer in width. The depth is 2 inches more so is this too big for it? Again it feels too big but I am not sure if that if it is suppose to be like this?

So the specs for that sleeve I bought compared to the specs for the xps 15 9520 is too big then when you compare those numbers? Do you have any specific recommendation?

I bought the first one here. It seems way too loose with the xps 15 9520 in it. The reason being there the sleeve is 2 inches bigger in both the width and width correct?

The second link tomtoc looks okay but is that too tight? 13.75' whereas as the xps 9520 is 13.56 inch width of the xps? The depth is just about 0.5' bigger.

The third link tomtoc seem mention it is specifically for the xps 15. But it doesn't mention which years. That is 14.06' compared to the 13.56 inch of the xps. The width is about 2/3rd on inch bigger.
