I tried it and can create a Shortcut on the Desktop to the Desktop folder in C:\Users\UserNameHere but it can't in turn be moved to the Taskbar. It may be due to the Show Desktop vertical bar at the far right end of the Taskbar, similar to Peek on Win10.

drag or pin it to the Taskbar...
It will also work even if you're not using SAB, or the like...

just make a shortcut to your desktop from your user folder and edit the properties' target to add "explorer " (explorer SPACE) before the target line text. you'll have to change the icon accordingly though. it will do what @Edwin clsid post suggests, just a quick way to do it. works for folders/drives

Recalling this thread in my mind, I missed saying that clicking the Show desktop thing at the right end of the Taskbar minimizes all open programs and clicking it again restores them.
