Weirdness peoples.

I saw a post on YouTube. It spoke of this app in the Microsoft store --

2022-02-08 19_54_08-Microsoft Store.jpg

I figured it was easier than that Github situation and so I'd give it a try. Didn't notice how many users said it does nothing. But I suspect it does.

After I installed I noticed in my RECENTS Windows 11 start menu an item was installed. I think it was called Voice Recorder. Yikes, right? App didn't even have an icon.

Can anyone with a virtual machine check to see if I'm crazy? Luckily it was not on an important PC. Malwarebytes didn't see anything and I'm running a full Defender scan now.

If it's a Store app, Defender is probably NOT gonna flag it.
Also, if it has a voice recorder, I doubt any program will see it as malicious. It'll see it as a valid voice recorder.

Also... if it has a voice recorder you probably have to enable it somehow. Even MS isn't that crazy.

I tried using Sandbox to test it but Sandbox lacks the Windows Store. It also won't let you install it, which is really weird considering it's a great place to test any app from the store. It looked like I could install from online but nothing happened when it should have. Arggh.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October.

You can't get anything easier to use that this GitHub one, which is what I use. You just download the .exe to a folder somewhere and run it. By default it then configures itself to run at start up.

Bree for THE WIN! It's so weird. I found that app on my other PC and it lacks an icon there too. So it must have just updated itself at the awkward timing. (So embarrassed.)
