I have tried to disable Auto arrange icons and the grid option, but nothing works. The icons move to the top left when renamed or if I copy paste a file from one location to the desktop (the file is not placed where the cursor was)
Does anyone have an solutions to this ?

Just to add that if I move the file icon to another space on desktop it remembers it on the next restart.

I have a copy issue also on one of my PCs. If I copy a file to the desktop, sometimes, the icons on the left side (This PC. Recycle Bin, etc. will jump one grid space down. This creates a one grid empty space below my user folder which is in the top left corner. I have to manually move my icons back to their original grid space when this happens. Haven't been able to track down a fix yet.

The link below provides information on arranging icons on the desktop.

If the information provided in the link above doesn't help there is a small application, DesktopOK, which you can download and use to save your custom icon layout.

Not in my case. Uninstalling OneDrive is one of the first things I do when building a new PC.

Let's find out if the issue is specific to your profile. Create, and login with, a new local account (make the account an administrator) and see if the issue persists with that new account. That will help determine the next course of action.

Not sure what I done or if this worked before. I copied a file and pasted it to the center of the Desktop screen, as expected it placed it to the top left under Recycle Bin icon. I moved the copied file to the center of the screen and renamed it and it stayed. But I still do not know why it does not paste to the location of the cursor.

Thank you, this cleared all the thumbnail and other cache while they were in use by the system.
But still the issue of icons not placed where I right click paste on the desktop is there.
