Do I need to do anything for security. I am only average level with Windows 21H2 22000.556

"Best Antivirus is between the two ears"
Somebody said that, anyway, if you are a normal windows user Defender is enough.
But if you are one of those who visits all the dubious sites, experiments with a variety of programs, installing/uninstalling, probably you need an additional safety program. Saving important files to another disk or the cloud and frequent imaging and keeping will be useful.
+2 and recall the "Between the ears." I'm one of those that visits many sights that are informational. Or study a topic, etc. You never know if a site is safe or not, in my case. Sometime ago, I was using Defender only and visited a site, that injected Malware. Fortunately, Free Malwarebytes, took care of it. At the time, it was Win 8 and today, Defender in WIN 10, is great, but not total, in reading. Just my thoughts.

No security product is, in your words, "total". Nor can it be. I'm sure you've heard of the term "zero-day threat". Thats when a threat in the wild is so new that no security product can yet defend against it.

Microsoft has a lot riding on the reputation of their security product. They have an entire dedicated security support department active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. (Unlike some advertised products out there that are supported only 8 hours a day and closed on weekends.)

I keep all my data and photos in my OneDrive folder. I have two local Microsoft File History air-gapped backups and 1TB of Microsoft OneDrive real-time off-site cloud backup. I use Microsoft Security (Defender). My data is secure.

I love it when I get a new computer. I log in to my Microsoft account, my 1TB of cloud OneDrive connects, and all my data is instantly there!

As far as visiting dubious websites, you can install free Adguard or uBlockOrigin browser extensions, those surely would stop you from visiting those websites ?

Any added security is beneficial for more coverage protection, when doing a lot of internet/website searches, IMO. I just like the added assurance, especially with some VNP protection, in browsing, too. But that's me like many.

@TraderGary What Anti-Virus software are only supported 8 hours a day and closed on weekends??

I have to disagree with some comments, to much protection is NOT good, you could get conflicting reports & some will even slow down your computer ! So don't over do the protection you think you need !
