I had a pretty bad back injury recently. Back is a lot better now bug my left leg is unable to support me without aid so getting around is a little difficult while I heal. Because of that, I'm all about using Remote Desktop to machines right now. However, I'm looking to piece together a new system to serve as Plex Server / NAS Server. I'm specifically looking at the ASUS NUC 15 which supports VPRO Enterprise, a part of which is AMT (Active Management Technology). AMT allows you to completely manage the machine remotely, going so far as to allow management of the BIOS or even reinstall the OS from a remote connection.

I have no previous experience with this so I'm just looking for answers to a few questions from anyone with experience using this.

1) Is this fairly simple to configure?

2) Are there any requirements that would make this impractical in a home environment? For example, there is no need for a Domain controller, is there?

3) Are there any big "gotchas" that I need to look out for?

NOTE: This machine would be running Win 11 Pro

BTW, I am aware that there are other solutions like lights out boards, etc. I am specifically looking for info on VPRO Enterprise.

The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.

I dabbled with it a long time ago. I don't recall it being very difficult to setup. It does not REQUIRE anything specific to work, but it can integrated with enterprise services such as Active Directory.
