Solved Does elevenforum sign users out periodically?

I can't remember it happening before but today I launched elevenforum website via my usual Firefox browser and found myself signed-out?
I am computer savvy and I am 99.9% certain I didn't do it by accident since it takes two distinct steps to Log out. Not one accidental click.
I use Privacy Eraser but that is set so it does not delete Firefox cookies.
Firefox is set so that it does not delete cookies when closed.

Maybe elevenforum has a security policy that makes people re-sign in again periodically?

It's not a big thing but has made me curious so does anyone have any thoughts as to how it may have happened?

Did you turn your computer off or quit Firefox? Either of these will close the connection causing the site to automatically disconnecting you, which all sites will do.

I am not talking about 'closing the connection' by 'turning my computer off or quitting Firefox'.

I am talking about being signed-out of elevenforum website by some unknown (to me) method.

If you have enabled two-factor authentication, you will need to reverify and log in every 30 days, but that's it.

I do not have 2FA enabled. I usually just stay signed-in permanently because I look at the site every day. I was signed-in yesterday. But not today. Weird!

Something has deleted the elevenforum signed-in cookie on my PC and I am sure it wasn't me. Is it possible for a signed-in cookie to be corrupted I wonder?

What about elevenforum - cookie?
Do you delete it? If yes - you are signed out.
I never delete it and I stay signed in forever, also when the Computer was turned off in between.

I have also seen this more than once.
Like you, I also use Firefox.
Like you, I do not use 2FA.

It has not happened often enough to rise in my list of priorities.

@Ghot - As a Firefox expert, can you shed any light on this?

Have you checked both Cookies and Site Data settings, as well as History settings?

The cookies are there.
Site data reports that there are 25 of them [and 20 for TenForums].
Since they work after the [infrequent] re-sign-ins, I don't think there is any useful action to take with them. Or am I missing something?

I can't say how many cookies there were this morning when I was signed-out but there are 15 Elevenforum cookies now that I am signed-in: -

I use FF, and don't use 2FA, but every now and then (maybe 30 days?), I have to re-login to Eleven Forum.
I've never looked into the why of it.

Also... I seem to remember that I chose 2FA on Eleven Forum, when it first became available. Then decided to un-choose it, a few days later.


For some reason though, when I do have to re-login to 11Forum, I always thought it was because of the forum being briefly down for maintenance, or something.
The reason being.. I'm not really sure it happens every 30 days. I know it happens occasionally, though.

For example, one morning I came to check 11Forum, and it seemed I was logged out, but I just went "back" one or two pages, and then came forward again... and I was logged in.


That's it! That's all I remember copper, and you'll not get more out of me!.

I just thought, while Cookie and Site Data settings may be okay, there might be custom settings in History that could be messing things up...

I can't test the FF cookies/CCleaner thing, without removing ALL the saved cookies in CCleaner.
And I really don't want to do that.

@Edwin - How did you get to see that 'Cookies and Site Data' photo you show? My Firefox does not show me that UI if I click on 'Cookies and Site Data' link. See photo to see the UI I see when I click on 'Cookies and Site Data>Manage data'. This takes me to screen shown in my post #11.

Although I have never used the 'Clear History' option I have now changed the 'History' delete options to prevent Cookies and Active Logons from being deleted. They were ticked but are now unticked. See photo.

Not that link.

Look further down the Privacy & security page to the heading History for the bit he's trying to show us.

Nope. I do not see anywhere else 'further down' to click on that refers to Cookies and Site Data. Could you post a photo please? Thanks.
