Downloads saving to monitor 1 instead of main display

I'm using 3 montitors, as shown in the screenshot. Until now, for example, when I downloaded something from the net, or saved a file the file was downloaded or saved to the 3rd monitor which I defined as main display. But for a few days it has been downloading to monitor 1. I don't understand why this change happened. What should I do to make the downloaded files land on the 3rd monitor again?

Note: I re-downloaded the display driver, no change in the result.

Not sure why that would be. Have you tried making one of the other monitors the main monitor and then switching the main monitor back to the 3rd? Just to give it a kick. Worth a shot anyway, I can’t think of why it would be doing this. Do you use any tweak apps for Windows, like Stardock Fences???

If that doesn’t work, try this. It’s a fix to get apps to open on the main monitor, but could be relevant:

Open Settings > System > Display
Select secondary Displays (individually)
Uncheck Remember window locations based on monitor connection
Click Extend these displays
Select Show only on 1.
Then disconnect and reconnect the cable of the secondary displays.
After that, check if downloads show on secondary monitors..

I tried making other monitor as the main but no change. the problem is not being the third monitor as the main. it does, for instance when I open any program it opens in the thrid but the problem is when I download or save a file it goes to the first monitor.

Yes I installed stardoc fences lately and I already made it work on my third monitor.

I did the setting changes which you mentioned. didn't help. But uninstalling fences did work. Thank you a lot. At least we detected what causes the problem is. but now I wanna use fences in my main window and wanna to save and download files to this window? how to do this?

I uninstalled and installed fences again and the problem disappeared. I save and download to the main window. thank you a lot for sharing your knowledge. thank you.

This is what I do, and I like the way it works. You can create a Fence and tell Fences to save all new items that go to your desktop, to go into that Fence. Then move them to wherever you want after that. It’s a great asset in Fences. I’ll check the settings to tell you how. But I am not sure if downloaded files would go there, I’ll check that also. Because my downloads go to the downloads folder.

The quickest way, here is what you do.

Create a Fence on the desktop you want downloads, icons, documents etc to go.
Right click on on the bar of the Fence, then click on "Sort by"
Then, click "Organize"
Then choose the rule you want. You can choose place all items to that Fence or make different Fences for different items.

I hope that helps.

You can open Fences and configure more complicated rules in the "Sorting & Organizing" section. Have a play, take your time
