Dynamic Lighting is now available on Windows 11

 Windows Blogs:

Devices with “Red, Green, Blue” (RGB) lights can help users personalize their Windows experiences beyond the screen. With the latest feature update, Dynamic Lighting on Windows 11 enables users to control their RGB devices right in Windows Settings. They can use it to extend their Windows accent color onto the devices around them, synchronize RGB effects across devices from different brands and exercise finer control over how their apps control their device’s lights.

Dynamic Lighting user interface

Dynamic Lighting helps create cohesion across the RGB devices market and enables new and engaging experiences across applications that are enhanced by RGB lights. In collaboration with partners like Acer, ADATA/XPG, ASUS ROG, HP, HyperX, Lenovo, Logitech G, MSI, NZXT, Razer, SignalRGB, SteelSeries and Twinkly, we’re making RGB experiences more accessible and easier to use for everyone.

Many existing RGB devices work with Dynamic Lighting already, with more new products on the way. Check out the list of supported devices.

I have a Gigabyte X570 Motherboard with some RGB LEDs as well as RGB headers that I use with several RGB fans. A Cooler Master ML360R AIO with a RGB waterblock. A LED logo on my Geforce 4080 FE that is not RGB but I can control the brightness. A Corsair K55 RGB keyboard. A Logitech G600 RGB Mouse. I also have RGB lights on my Dell/Alienware AW3821DW Monitor.

I was excited about this windows feature because I hate having to use so many different apps to control all of the different RGB features. OpenRGB is pretty good but even that doesn't have all of the same options that each native app has.

None of the devices I mentioned above are obscure devices from fringe brands; quite the contrary. Yet not one single device is supported yet in Windows Dynamic Lighting. I understand that this is a new feature, but it's still very disapointing.

The only feature that the KB5030310 update (22H2, Sep 26) enabled for me was "7z & RAR" support (open without 3rd-party app)! All other 150 (!!!) features weren't enabled.

Does anybody here have K810 and DeathAdder (Elite) to check if this works (fully) for those devices?

I've heard about problems with these devices (and Dynamic Lighting settings) on Reddit.

Tried it, and it didn't do anything at all, typical Microsoft WTF software.
And when you go to the supported devices link( https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/w...component-guidelines/dynamic-lighting-devices )its a freakin' joke.

Now I use OpenRGB and check out this supported devices page with 1482 entries: OpenRGB
1. OpenRGB is not the equivalent of Dynamic lighting in any means but RGB. (I may be wrong here)
2. Look at OpenRGB a couple of weeks/months after they released to compare, they use a versioning system so it's not that hard. (was dynamic lighting even released when you post this?)
3. External company's need to make their hardware work with Dynamic lightning, so it's up to THEM if your hardware is not working. Luckily they all seems to have made or are working on it. Lots of people are working 8 hours a day on this so this will be implemented faster than open source software.
4. A couple of months in and my hardware works at 80-90%, just waiting for logitech and maybe corsair to finish their integration. (I ended up not using the controller in my case(corsair) for the integrated front fans for other reasons) I may be going back to the controller if support is implemented.

If you need more customizations than what offer dynamic lighting you can use razer synapse(windows only) they have plugins for most (if not all) hardware manufacturer. It's way easier to setup and maintain than OpenRGB and you can still have one app to control them all(I think you still need to have all the RGB sdk installed but not running? again I may be wrong here I haven't used it in a while my RGB are free for all for some times now, I decided to put a monitor in front of the case in the meantime :-) )

The only device it shows on my system is my kb. I'm considering trying SignalRGB to control all of my devices. My biggest issue is that my MSI motherboard, MEG Z790 ACE, requires some special files that only MSI Center seems to have in order to control the jrainbow headers. The MSI color patterns are weird compared to all other software patterns.

None of my devices are shown, pointless. Was never bothered with rgb, but before the end of last year went for a full on upgrade, from my first gen i7 Extreme processor, to an i9 with all the bells and whistles, but nothing is supported. Seems like not many support the system MS are providing in Windows which is a shame
