Can you give examples of such countries?

Isn't this a catch 22?

How will users see your post if it is blocked?

Obviously useful to know if visiting such a country although I rather take the view not to bypass such constraints in countries where you could get into serious trouble with the authorities.

Russia. I can't log in for the second day only via VPN. They began to block the ECH from Cloudflare.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

When I was 18 I had a Catch 22 when I went to register my very first car. To register my car I was told that I needed the car insured. When I went to buy car insurance I was told that by law the car had to be registered. Luckily they over looked the law and issued the insurance so I could get the car registered.

I thought I was alone in my ignorance about this. Thanks Bree for the link. Oh, wait, I am alone. Everyone else understands it and I probably still don't.

In a dumbed down way so I understand.... as a parallel for comparison here...is this the same thing as back when online financial transactions once used TLS connection protocol that was encrypted on each end but not in the middle so connection during the transaction was spyable and insecure. They then adopted to using end to end encryption using ECS protocol, thus leaving the transactions unspyable???

Now more sites are using this more secure connection protocol, but Russia is banning user connections using this protocol so its government can easily spy on anyone doing anything. To get around it one has to use a VPN but if one uses a VPN and is caught by the FSB, they are in deep do-do.
Do I have that about right??

Wrong. We have no punishment for VPN. I am writing this so that there is a correct understanding of the reality in Russia today.
