I can do the "capture" but have no idea where it goes when I copy it

Please advise.

Also can I please get the original Snip and Save app/program back to use with my Windows 11 Surface to Go Tablet Device?

: -or please suggest something else because right now I want to find a Capture that I have copied.

Is there a tutorial about this stuff, please?

I did a general search and came out in the middle of a very long thread about Edge so have asked this anew - sorry if it is in the wrong place or a duplicate - in which case please redirect me.

Finally - what please in Windows 11 is the difference between a Program and an App - (As a UK English speaker and speller I still want to refer to a Programme!)

Thanks for any help offered.

I cannot attach a screenshot because I do not know how best to do it with my present device.

Am now using Windows 11 - I got into a muddle previously updating my details regarding this Microsoft Tablet Device- sorry.

When you copy it, it goes on your clipboard. Press :win: + v

and this should pop up.

Thank you,

That does not "pop up" as you write - where can I find it please?

Thank you for your help -= I thought it was supposed to be straightforward.

One of the best screenshot tools for Windows is ShareX. You can find it in Microsoft Store. It is highly configurable and easily better than the one offered by Windows or Edge.

They are the same. Programs that are downloaded from official app stores like the Microsoft Store are referred to as 'apps'.

I know you are trying to help - but I have a thick head right now and cannot fathom it out

I clicked on the word Copied in a little green box and it vanished - so I am not sure how to Select it.

Thanks for confirmin Apps and Programs are effectively the same - bits of additional software that are loaded in to a computer device's Operating System.

Anything copied can be accessed using the keyboard combination Ctrl + V, i.e., press the Control button on the keyboard and the alphabet V simultaneously. This will paste the content of the clipboard where you want.

Once you've selected copied it's in the 'clipboard'. To see it press the Windows key and V. That will open the clipboard to view. When you open something like Paint then you just select the paste icon.

Regarding your question about the snipping tool, I wasn't a fan of the new snipping tool at first, but I now like it better than the old one.

Open tool and click 'new' the screen will dim. Select your mode of snip (rectangular, freeform, window, or fullscreen)
1.For either the rectangular or freeform select the icon on toolbar
2. With left mouse button down drag mouse over section you want to snip (the entire area should turn a bright white)
3. When you release your mouse button, the screen flickers indicating it snipped. From there you click the tiny icon on toolbar in upper right corner that says 'save as' . Name your snip and select where you want to save it. Then click save.

The window or fullscreen snip is self explanatory. Select either mode then just click on the screen you want to snip and save it as described above.

If one saved the old snipping tool from Windows 10 before it changed I read that it can still be used but I've not tried it. I saved it on one of my external drives though not sure where. If you want it I'll try to find it, but I promise once you get used to it the new one is better.

please suggest something else because right now I want to find a Capture that I have copied.
I recommend ShareX.

You can customize the hotkey, change the Captures folder (default is Documents\ShareX), save the screenshot into the provided path of Captures folder, and copy it to clipboard (default), and auto upload to a image sharing platform (e.g. Imgur)

OK - thanks - I do not think I need to get involved with HOT KEYS - something else I do not understand about

However by chance I have discovered that I can see my Clipboard History by clicking Windows Key PLUS V - so that is progress!

I am trying this again - but either what I consider is the Picture Library - is not the Picture Library or something else is wrong.

Is the picture library a link in "File Explorer" below "This PC" Please?

Thanks for suggestions made thus far from all contributors.

Select copy,

View attachment 19461

Then open something like Paint and then paste and adjust the image before saving.
Thank you for that suggestion - it works but needs extra effort to the Snip and Save App available in Windows 10 - I wonder why nothing as simple seems readily available when using Windows 11?

That is correct. I have found that once I save a snip, and then later make a new snip, the app remembers the last location saved and will save there from then. If you ever select a new save location with a future snip, the app will also remember. So once you save a snip in Pictures, you're good to go from then on..

Thank you - though it is still not completely solved - but I am very gratefull to all contributors though I still do not understand how to paste to the Paint App and save it to a specific location without extra effort and editing - but maybe I have misread something.

I am sorry if any contributor felt taken for granted by my responses that prompted these comments.

Yes, it is.

Anything that is copied, goes to the clipboard and can be retrieved using Ctrl + V as mentioned before:
Anything copied can be accessed using the keyboard combination Ctrl + V, i.e., press the Control button on the keyboard and the alphabet V simultaneously. This will paste the content of the clipboard where you want.

There isn't too much to learn. Knowing just a handful of very common keyboard shortcuts helps.

Thanks for suggestions made thus far from all contributors.
