For some strange reason my Edge will not log onto any internet page. It needs Internet Explorer 11. All of the necessary codes are on C: but Edge will not long to a web page nor can I start IE 11. I really don't want to load my backup win-11, but may have to since it looks like EI 11 glitched or something, or MS did some thing without my knowledge. Using Chrome and/or Norton's Browser now and all works great. Any suggestions?

Inspiron 16-5640, Windows 11 23H2 latest update.

Not sure what happened. I was on Edge at some web site and then it just came up with and error and the web page disappeared. The window looks like this:

I have not clue as to how this happened. All I want it my edge back to normal. I have a recent backup and a clone so it will not be hard to restore the PC; maybe that is the best way, huh? I have never had such a problem.

Jeff are you using any extensions? If so disable them. Turn them back on one by one to see if there is one that is causing this. A pain in the but but a good diagnosis process.

Also, try resetting edge to default settings.

After resetting Edge, check for Edge updates.

And of course, clear all cache and cookies if resetting Edge doesn’t

If you’re still getting the error, try disabling 3rd party antivirus/firewall if you have one,.

I did that but no help, all my extensions were off and I reset everything, but no good. My lates Edge is: Version 131.0.2903.48 (Official build) (64-bit). I think this happened after that update. If I had saved the previous update I would install it, but I do not have it.

If Edge is set to run in compatability mode, you will come across this message. Edge wont work for Windows 7 (Possibly 8) However Internet Explorer Mode does work, I need to use it to access my security cameras.

I found the previous Edge and installed it; the problem is gone and Edge operates fine with the older Edge. It may have been a bad download for that update.

Another suggestion to try is run Edge in 'New InPrivate window' to test. Open the three dots top right or CTRL + SHIFT +N and search for your sites.
If it works ok then one of your extensions has had an update that's causing the issue. Disabling extensions isn't good enough sometimes and need removing not just disabling.
