Edge is bad at translating some sites (that Chrome is fully capable of translating)

Take this site for example, it's a real estate site and this is a listing for an apartment that's been there a long time so should be there a while longer.

https://www.immobilienscout24.de/expose/159195660

If you scroll down to where you see a heading Objektbeschreibung and you see a bunch of German text there. Now click on the translate icon in the Edge address bar (or from the popup if it's still there) and select English. You'll see that Objeckbeschreibung is translated to Description, but all the text below it remains German.

This doesn't happen on Chrome - it all gets translated. I just migrated back to Edge after being on Chrome for a year and now I'm thinking it was a mistake. Although I'm enjoying not getting the BSOD's that Chrome was causing.

Is there anything I can do? I tried a Google Translate Extension but it suffered from the same problem.

Figure out why Chrome is causing BSOD crashes? That's certainly not normal, and millions of people use Chrome without that problem.

I'd love to but I've got more interesting stuff to do  I'm pretty happy with Edge apart from the Translate issue.

Oh yeah, that's what I've been doing. It's annoying copying each section one at a time though.

Well that's a winning solution right there. I hadn't thought about Firefox in a long time even though it's been installed the whole time  🆒:star:
I'd much rather copy the link from the emails and paste it into Firefox than use Google Translate in another tab.:cool::cool:

Why do you need to copy and paste links? Is Edge hijacking your link clicks and disrespecting your default browser choice?
This should also prevent links in emails from being hijacked, I hope? I use it to stop Edge Specific Links in Windows.

Microsoft Edge Redirect, will prevent Edge/Bing from hijacking the default browser, search preferences and other scenarios by redirecting requests from Edge/Windows due to Edge Specific Links and disabling their ability to hijack your chosen default Browser or Search preferences.

Download and install Edge Redirect v0.8.0.0
Select “Active Mode” (I would recommend)
Click “Next” It will require one time admin rights.

Select your preferred link/browser preferences:
  • Change the following to “Google”
    • Bing Discover
    • Bing Search
    • MSN News
    • Bing Images
  • Change MSN weather to “weather .com”
  • Leave the PDF viewer as default.
  • Check “Redirect Windows Spotlight”
  • Uncheck “Redirect Windows Store Apps”

If you don’t use CoPilot, you can also disable it at the bottom. However I believe CoPilot is an app now and should be uninstallable.

I think you've misunderstood. I chose to have Edge as my default browser, mostly because it doesn't cause blue screens of death like Chrome was for the last week or so.

The only reason I now want to copy/paste links is so that I can open them in Firefox, which does as good a job at translating pages as Chrome does. Edge sucks at translating - it doesn't translate all the text on the page, and most importantly, the text I want it to.
