Solved Edge (normal mode) vs In Private Mode. Why does this happen? Massive difference in page opening time.

I've noticed a site I use taking ages to fully load (on two different PC's) and by pure chance opened the site using In Private mode and found it was instant. This behaviour is repeatable day in day out.

The site is this one:

Click any location in any county and you see something like this. Notice the gauge at the left. This takes over twenty seconds to load using Edge normal mode. If I look it up using In Private the gauge opens instantly. Same for any monitored location on the site index:

Try it in Edge and then Edge In Private. Is there a difference for you?

Either link opens instantly for me, whether in Private Mode or not, in any browser!

Thanks for testing this Edwin. Having looked again and something suddenly jumped out that I just hadn't noticed... and that is the In Private mode doesn't seem to show the ad's for this site.

Do you see any adverts on yours?

I only use InPrivate mode. To answer your question (although addressed to Edwin), I do not see ads when visiting the site.

Thanks, that's interesting. If I scroll down the page to below all the relevant info I'm seeing whole blocks of ads, again these are missing on the In Private view.

Perhaps it's a UK thing as to whether the ads get targeted.

I never see ads.

I'm going to mark this resolved.

The slow page loading definitely seems related to the adverts on the page that appear when I open it using normal mode. Using 'In Private' mode for some reason does not appear to load these ads. That is the only difference I can see but it makes a massive difference to the loading times.

It also looks like those outside the UK do not get to see ads on this site in normal mode and so experience no delay.

Not sure if there is an option for it on Edge but I use uBlock-Origin on my Chrome,and I see no ads whatsoever [I also use Bitdefender Pro which may also sanitise some sites ]

Thinking about your Ads and their not displaying when in private mode ... I think that these are geographically targeted ads, one function of Private Mode is to hide your location, it would appear that the website is setup to only display ads to UK visitors, it will not display to other locations, and, in a pleasant change from the norm, they treat No Location as one that does not have the Ads displayed
