Solved Edge problems (Beta and Stable)

Since yesterday I've noticed a problem with Edge on both Beta and Stable
My homepage is set to www.bing.com but it never loads, I just get the circle going round like it's loading the page.
If I click a favourite then go back to Bing it's fine

Opening a link from Teams (such as a link to an Amazon product) - the page won't load

Opening a link in an SMS on Phone Link - page won't load

Nothing will load if I click on one of the Widgets

If I right click on an Instagram profile and select 'open in new window' - the page won't load although I can go directly to the profile

If the browser is already running then it mostly works (Instagram doesn't but clicking on a widget opens a new tab)

Noticed it for the first time yesterday

Not having any issues on Firefox so not a network issue

EDIT: It doesn't matter what my homepage is set to, it won't load when starting the browser but I can click on the favourite and it loads

EDIT 2: selecting 'open in new window' on a Facebook profile won't work either. I've not tried anything else.

Hey Brian,
Based on your description, it seems like you might have a corrupted profile.
It might have started on either version (Beta or Stable) and then propagated to the other version through syncing.

My advice would be to:

- Delete the content of

Code:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\

That will wipe out everything but if you sync, most of the settings will be restored.
Let it do its syncing and then try again to surf as usual.

Nope, not fixed it. Both browsers still the same.

Well I just tried again and both browsers are now working again, I only deleted the folder on Edge Stable, it didn't work at first but now all seems ok again. Weird.

Nothing weird about it. It takes time for the profile to regenerate.
Ideally both userdata folders should have been wiped clean, but the source is the Stable Release one.

I keep both user data folders on a separate SSD, I had trouble before so I tried moving them back to C: but that didn't fix it. Your solution worked (so far) so thanks 👍

Here's the REALLY weird thing. I copied the folder contents form the save location to the C drive after deleting the junction link.

After setting Edge up again I deleted the folder and put the junction back so it pointed to the ORIGINAL folder on the other SSD.

Can't explain that one!
