Solved eero mesh wifi and Double "Natting" - use old wifi extender /route on eero mesh ?

Hi Network Gurus

My ISP has replaced my old router (which plugs into the WLAN ISP box via a 2 box eero set) -- was really simple, easy to set up --you just download the phone app and then it's virtually Plug'n play -- even a 7 year old could follow the instructions -- for extenders just power on the 2nd, 3rd etc eero box and follow the instructions -- no need to plug anything else into the extra boxes.

Now my question is I've still got a great netgear nighthawk device -- I believe that I can "Wirelessly attach" this to the mesh and by a process of "double Natting" you can set up a 2nd network with a different SSID etc. Any ideas on how this can be done -- it's got a few LAN ports on it which I still use because some of my devices don't have Wifi.

Other than that --really impressed with this piece of kit which is delivering wifi throughput at nearly 1 Gbps (979 Gpbs) which is more than enough for the stuff I'm doing currently. First time the instructions are simple and ACTUALLY WORK !!!!

Any help appreciated -- I'm totally new to this "Double Natting" and modern Mesh networking.

I just connected my old router's WAN port to one of my new router's LAN ports and it just worked. So I have two wifi networks.

No natting involved.

The old router got the local IP 192.168.2.1 whereas the new router is 192.168.1.1

Well, since you connected to the WAN port of the secondary router, you probably have double-NAT layers unless you specifically were able to configure the old router as an AP. If you're secondary router has a different IP address range and it's own DHCP server, you do have double-NAT layers.

Yes, but I did not have to set it up - it was just plug and play. It is not set as an AP.

As long as the two routers don't have the same base subnet address, just plugging in with the WAN port normally does work with two routers.

Just plug it in to your main router and set your netgear to router mode if you want to create a secondary network. If you just want to extend your existing network, set it to access point. The settings is within the netgear router mode configuration.

I used a cheap 5 Port unmanaged switch €9.00 which just plugged into one of the eero box's LAN ports (there are 2 on each Lan port - that solves the problem of older devices I want not having a Wifi card and not having to use long lengths of LAN cards to reach the primary router (ISP WAN) so these are still on main network with IP addresses 192.168.4.XXX and the Nighthawk to provide the other network with a different SSID having addresses of 192.168.1.XXX.
