Hi All, my ThinkPad T470p seems to be playing silly beggars with me atm (I've run MBAM and Kaspersky scans, don't believe I've a virus :()

I recently posted another Help post as my external monitor was showing only very low resolution
Dell U2414H Monitor won't connect correctly to Win11 Thinkpad T470p | Windows 11 Forum

Today I tried printing in my usual workflow, Photoshop to Epson Print Layout (EPL) to my Epson P800 printer. EPL displayed a message that there was no printer.

I reinstalled the driver, and rebooted. I uninstalled EPL, rebooted and reinstalled. I connected my other Thinkpad and that connected okay. They both have the same driver according to Device Manager. In th ePrinters and Drivers dialogue box, my P800 shows as connected. I ran the troubleshooter, the suggestion was to make it the default printer, but still no joy in EPL.

EPL every time showed the same message, printer not connected.

Can't explain it, and last time I printed I had no such issues.

Would anyone have any helpful suggestions, many thanks in advance! Chigwells

I've posted here rather than in a photo forum as it's more a W11 issue I feel.

The version is Win11 Pro 21H2
OS Build 22000.1817

Things to try:
1. Run the printer troubleshooter open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters>Printer>RUN.
2. Make sure you have no corrupt system files that is causing this problem. Open a command prompt as administrator and type sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair.
3. You're still on 21H2. I suggest you use the media creation tool, download the iso for 22H2, and perform an inplace upgrade. Since your cpu is incompatible, to pass compatibility checks you will have to replace appraiserres.dll. How to Upgrade to Windows 11 22H2 on Unsupported Hardware

Thanks @glasskuter, I ran SFC and it came back with everything fine. I'd already run the Troubleshooter and that hasn't helped.

Hmm, this is a bit of a serious job for me. I will give it a go over the weekend and get back to you. I haven't done an upgrade like this before so I will proceed carefully and take my time.

Thanks for your guidance, I'll come back in a couple of days :geek:

A repair install and inplace upgrade is the same thing.

I don't (yet) own an Epson P800 printer but I do own the older Epson 3880. With that there should be zero issues with Windows 11 and the P800.

That said, and the fact that you confirm to other PC works, how is the printer being connected to the PCs? Wi-Fi or USB? If use, have you checked the ports are good on the "problem" PC? If Wi-Fi, have you checked those setting?

And Epson's software should work on all versions of Windows 10/11 PC so whether you have 21H2 or 22H2 should make no difference. That said, you may have to do a Repair Install as suggested by glasskuter suggests just to sort out whatever weirdness is going on there with that PC.

Good point (y)

I've been on 22H2 from the beginning - both 11 and 10 :-)

Hi again @glasskuter @Dru2 thanks for your suggestions.

I always figured it was something to do with the drivers, as my machine had printed quite happily previously (not sure what changed). I've eventually found the solution:

Reinstalled the drivers a couple of times, including in Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices, deleting everything to do with the printer. Had a go at reinstalling Epson Print Layout, and still no joy. Finally, I unistalled the P800 printer software completely, downloaded a fresh set from Epson and reinstalled that. This did the trick!

As far as 22H2 goes, I'm downloading the ISO(s) now, MUO instructions are sound enough. Many thanks!
