Hi

Why is my ethernet icon white when disabled in network connections window/folder in Windows 11 and when the ethernet icon is enabled it turns back to normal, anyone else has this same problem?, never happened in Windows 10, by the way it's a clean install of Windows 11 Professional and ethernet works fine, no problems.

It's the same with the Microsoft Edge icon in Start 》Apps 》Microsoft Edge icon is white and on the desktop the Microsoft Edge icon is fine, the Microsoft Edge icon problem being white has existed since Windows 10 with Openshell start menu installed, the problem was flagged in Github, but nobody found a solution for it as yet. Microsoft Edge works fine.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

I am not sure where you are looking for the ethernet. I don't use it.

My guess is that it's just a visual to let someone know that the Ethernet adapter is disabled or enabled.

I see the same thing on my Notebooks and the Wi-Fi icon, white while connected and washed out when disconnected, good indicator of things working or not.

I think your icon database has become corrupt. There is a way to reset it, so search for that in Google. If that doesn't help, try repairing your Windows installation.

Unlike what some others have mentioned, this isn't normal. Something has become corrupt.

Looks like a screenshot of an Epson program. Like you I use Wi-Fi only on my devices except for the Vonage VOIP modem.
No it's a screenshot from the Network Connections Window in Windows 11, the Epson is an add on extension added by the Epson printer software in every Window I open up in Windows 11 file explorer which can be disabled easily, as for the white icon maybe the file icon file is corrupt or it's a bug in Windows 11, who knows?, but when the Ethernet is enabled the icon state is back to normal and when it's disabled it's white, I don't use Ethernet, I use Wi-Fi, I was just curious why the Ethernet icon is white. Even the Edge icon is white and on the desktop the Edge icon is in a normal state and Edge works fine.

This is what it looks like on my desktop. Bluetooth and Ethernet are off.

Will the following article in rebuilding the icon cache database work in Windows 11 or is the procedure different in Windows 11.
I don't know for sure but I don't see why it wouldn't. Before you try changing anything if at all possible make a backup image first.

I don't know for sure but I don't see why it wouldn't. Before you try changing anything if at all possible make a backup image first.
I will try this out on Friday because I'm working away from home at the moment, when I get back home on Friday I will try it then, do I need make a back up image of the whole drive the operating system is installed on?
