OS
windows 11
Pc specs: i9 13900k, asus rog Maximus z790 hero, thermal take 1200, Samsung 990 nvme, 4x16 ddr5 Corsair vengeance 6000MHz, and a 4090 msi suprim x

I’m getting event 162 error followed by the critical error event 41 a few seconds later which results in a bsod.

Happens everytime I got my pc on. Whether it’s 10 minutes after boot, or 3 hours after boot.

I’ve repaired windows and also I’ve updated all drivers, windows updates, armory crate updates, & nvidia drivers. I’ve done the sfc scannow and repaired the files that was corrupted. I’ve made sure xmp was disabled. And I’m still getting a blue screen of death (event 162 error and event 41 critical) .

So next thing I did was the memtest in the bios. And it came back as event 1102 and 1202 which said “ The Windows Memory Diagnostic tested the computer's memory and detected hardware errors. To identify and repair these problems, contact the computer manufacturer”. I’ve got 4 x 16gb Corsair vengeance 6000MHz….

Has anyone had these issues and found a fix? Is it my ram? Or is it windows?

Have you tried running just one stick of ram to see if crashes still occur?

I haven’t, because it’s so random. Sometimes I can get through a whole session without this happening and other times it happens in 10 mins after boot.
And sorry, I accidentally left out this information above..
I did the initial memtest before I disabled xmp, and it gave me the errors above, and I did another memtest with xmp disabled about an hour ago and it said no issues detected… but as i said I’m still having the bsod issues I described.

Is the ram you purchased in the motherboard QVL list on the Asus motherboard subsite?
And if so does is say that 4 sticks of the ram you have should work.

So I looked on the list on asus. And it says that my ram is supported. It’s the first picture. But it only has 2x16 on it @6000 MHz. The second picture shows the only 2 Corsair options that have 4x16 which are 5600 MHz..

does this mean I can’t use 4x16 6000MHz even if I don’t run xmp to make it 6000MHz?

It means it isn't supported and may not work.
Try one stick on its own (check the mobo manual for which slot to use, usually A2)
Ok! I’ll try that. And imma leave my pc on while not using it, and if I don’t have any crashes, I’m going to assume that’s the issue. And if that’s the issue. Then I guess I can buy the 4x16 5600MHz that I showed in the picture? or a different 2x32gb that’s on the list?

Thanks! Well seee if taking out 2 sticks works. And if that’s the case I’ll just return these and get new ones. Only time will tell if it persists

My psu is 1200w, it’s overkill for my build. It’s not in eco mode.
I don’t hear any noise from hdds. The OS is on an m2 nvme. I don’t hear any abnormal noises from anything else.

My cpu isn’t Overclocked. Its base. Gpu is out of the box clocked.

I ran memory test. With xmp enabled and it said the errors I mentioned above 1102 and 1202.

Then I turned xmp off and ran the test again and it said no issues found.

The bios is updated to latest bios!

I’ve already ran sfc /scannow and it found corrupted files and I repaired the files.

Faulty PSU can also cause this problem.
