OS
Win 11 Enterprise
On Windows 11 Enterprise (Build 22000.318) the "Explorer" is slow to open folders (browsing). I have disabled "Thumb Cache" and re-enabled it but nothing! I didn't have this problem on Win 10 (on the same device with SSD and enough RAM and an i7 Intel CPU).

I know there is a solution to bring back old "File Explorer" to Win 11 or browse folders in "Full Screen" mode. Is there a new solution here or it is a Win 11 bug and we have to wait until MS decide to address this issue(!)?

No Problem here, are you sure it is not something else you need to check

File Explorer hasn't changed that much from Windows 10 or earlier versions of Windows for that matter.
Try running a Clean Boot. If this works, you can leave it this way or you can add one Startup Item or Service at a time until File Explorer starts slowing down, then you will know the culprit.

I have clean install (Win 11), no bloatware installed. Every time I disable new ribbon UI (File Explorer) in registry key, it all goes fast enough like my Win 10.
I think there is a bug with new ribbon UI, I had read some report about it on Reddit (but they are all insiders version) and I am not sure if this bug is still in official version.

Looks like you are sorted, hopefully the ribbon is no big deal for you

anything laggy is a big deal. Honestly if they want to copy MAC, why not do it smoothly?

100% agree :clap::thumbsup:
A quote from the Great Jobs (Steve) (!): "Good artists copy; Great artists steal" :winkt: (but actually the quote is originally from the Great Picasso :look:

MS didn't do enough good job (copying the UI and UX from MAC!) :yawn:

Can you explain what exactly it does (this reg hack)? (I think it enables the "Launch folder windows in a separate process" option, if that's it, I have enabled it before but nothing again!).

Thanks. I know (!) and IMO "Total Commander" is the best one. I just want to keep the Windows more clean and lite (!) and I am trying to use OS native apps to do my jobs instead of installing a new app for every little problem (I have to have fresh OS installation time to time and don't want to install extra app on it, the worst part of the scenario is their settings, most of the apps have no option to export their settings, most of them export part of them and it takes about a day to install a Win with the apps with their settings!).

Recently I heard a lot about "Files", a new modern Win 11-ish explorer to replace the Win 11 native explorer but after installing it has more lag than the original one (Windows native explorer), IMO they did their job as great as they could, its UI and application is GREAT and I uninstalled it because of lack of speed!

my Windows Explorer isn't laggy, but it sure is active ALL THE TIME in the background according to task manager (5-10%). this is even with no file explorer windows open.

Any ideas on how to combat this; I really mostly care because it eats laptop battery. I'm wondering if it's something to do with OneDrive constantly checking things.

"File Explorer" in Win 11 has problem, as they said it has "Memory Leak". My right click has problem in "Explorer" (most of the time it does not work, I have to press right click more than one time). It also brings Win 10 "Ribbon" back automatically!
