Faulty Communications Port Device Manager ( Windows 11 Home 23H2)

Hello

I work in a hotel and use a program to make electronic card door keys.

This program requires com ports for its operation.

I discovered that Ports (Com & LPT) was missing from Device Manager -therefore the card program will not work.

I used “Add Legacy Hardware” using the setting “install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)*

Ports (Com & LPT) is now visible in device manager displaying “Communications Port (COM 3) with a yellow error icon.

Properties displays the message “This device cannot start. (Code 10). A device which does not exist was specified.”.

What do I do next to rectify the problem ?

For obvious reasons I desperately need a quick solution.

Your Missing the Driver for the COM Port

How do I reinstall this missing driver for the com port.
I have little experience on this aspect of windows 11.
I would most grateful for any assistance on this matter.

If you list the make and model of the PC (or laptop), you may receive more specific help.

Does the machine have a physical com port, or are you using a USB adapter?

If you work in a hotel, contact your IT department so they can fix it
