Please excuse my terrible mockup skills

I've made a feature suggestion on Feedback Hub in case anyone wants to give it an upvote.

It's about a sidebar (you can call it Livebar):

Screens are wide. Make a sidebar that can host 3 types of data:
  • Progress bars. Let apps share their progress bars (a file copy, a download, a video that is exporting)
  • Streams. Let apps "send video" to the sidebar. Have a youtube stream playing in the sidebar while browsing the web on rest of the screen
  • Standalone apps. Your typical widget, like Facebook Messenger, Calendar etc. Or why not, android apps.

Have an option to keep the sidebar always open

Welcome to the forum, @CostasD . I think your mock-up is done very well and hopefully anyone who has need for such stuff will upvote it on feedback. But FYI, while there is some new blood here, a lot of folks are old school and instead of embracing all the new fandangled features like widgets, stickers, sidebars, etc, we try to find a way to turn them off. Most don't use touch devices (which all the gadgets are more suited for) and a big portion of us are more concerned about the productivity value of Windows. That said, to any guy or gal who likes such stuff, give a nod to CostasD suggestion. He worked hard on that mockup.

I don't see it happening. MS isn't going to include anything that is going to compete with their Widgets. You can take a look at 8GadgetPack and see if it has what you want.

I myself like something like this, but it probably would never get implemented in it's present form, nice to see creative ideas like this, thanks for sharing it.
