- Windows XP,11 Linux Fedora Rawhide pre-release 45
Hi folks
Added: running this whole lot from an external NvMe device attached to the pc via adapter->USBC slot.
after the latest Fedora update (on Rawhide - pre-release 44) running Windows 11 pro under KVM gives (if you set it up properly) even without using hardware passthru near native performance. Great for applications that you can only run on Windows -- e.g photoshop, video editing etc
On a decent laptop running Fedora Rawhide rel 44 as HOST here's a program playing from SKY GO with subtitles on a Windows 11 Pro VM-- gives clear sound and subtitles also -- no jitters -- indistinguishable from the same app running on a Windows Host natively. The only thing you need to ensure on the Windows Guest is to install the Virtio drivers which are the equivalent of Virtual box additions or VmWare's Vmware tools and have the Windows Virtual disk as type virtio and the Nic as Virtio as well. Adding subtitles used to cause the whole video and audio to be a bit stuttery. Now runs just like in a Native Windows system.
What makes this even better is that the whole kybosh is running from an external NvMe device connected to the PC via USBC slot so not eveb from the internal disk.

Cheers
