I think US "Football" was only invented by Doctors and Bone specialists so big heavy men could beat the sh-- out of each other and then the doctors, consultants and hospitals could rake in a fortune in attempting to repair their injuries. !!!!!

Unlike most other sports -- even Boxing -- women are also participants -- but I doubt if I've ever even heard of a Women's American Football team -- they'd probably have to be enormous. !!!!!

Now Rugby, that's another manly sport.

I grew up watching football in the 60's and 70's, when NFL players went out there to kill players on the other team.
Or at least put them in the hospital for the season.
Even in American football, the players today aren't as tough as they used to be.

I know Soccer is a tough sport, if for no other reason than they pretty much run the entire game.

But honestly, even today, American football players would just snap those guys like twigs.
6' 5", 300 lbs. (196cm, 136kg), and fast, at least over short distances.


Now it would be interesting to see Rugby vs. American football. That would bring in some serious money on pay-per-view. :cool:

I'll be rooting for England tonight though against Senegal.

I utterly loathe their Brexit etc -- but as far as Real Football is concerned (Or "Soccer as you call it -- even though the word soccer comes from the rules of "Association Football" -- excellent series on SKY TV History channel 2HD if you can get it -- 2 episodes on "The History of Football") They invented the game and it has given so much pleasure over the years to supporters all over the world.

I loved it though at a recent EUFA competition when Iceland knocked England out !!!! Euros 2016 !!!!!

BTW that photo was from S.W Iceland -> quite a bit further south than where I live !!!!! which is about 20 KM from Reykjavik.


Just a final one --if you have a VPN

Here's the SKY History 2 channel -- actually for quite good. VPN just use a UK or ISL server. Nordvpn seems OK to me has loads of servers world wide and no particular performance or "Lawyer" problems. !!! This is the channel that had that excellent "History of Football" series - 2 excellent episodes.
