Folders that don't want to die

I've been having some strange issues regarding my external Samsung T7 SSD, and so decided to copy the files off of it, format it, and then put the files back. As I did, I found several apparently empty folders that would not delete (see image below). A quick Windows format of the drive completed, but did not remove those folders. The only way I could get rid of them was to use the Take Ownership instruction, after which they could be deleted. I then did a full (not quick) format, and so far things look good.

I'm wondering.... does anyone know what those folders are, how they got there, and why they were so resistant to going away?

It looks like you changed those folders locations to external drive from Windows 11 C: partition.

It looks like you changed those folders locations to external drive from Windows 11 C: partition.

I'm sure glad I'm not responsible for putting them back again. I don't have a clue how that might have happened.

Open the Settings app and click on “Storage” under “System” to view storage-related settings.

Under the “Storage management” section, expand “Advanced storage settings” and click on “Where new content is saved”.

You can now choose another drive on your PC for saving apps.
