Just wanted to say that I managed to fix my font rendering and scaling issue.
It had nothing to do with my hardware or software, it was my screen.
For some reason the TV that I use as a monitor, apparently glitched out and had stopped applying the sharpness settings I configured for my custom picture preset (this, even after turning it off and disconnecting the power cord).
I just opened the TV picture settings and switched from my custom picture preset to one of the predefined presets, then switched back to my personal preset, and everything is now back to normal.
