Forced Win11 Update on Incompatible Device - Does Windows Update Work?

Hi all! If I force Windows 11 on a device not considered compatible.... Will Windows Update still work (i.e. will I set myself up for an ingoing saga of tweaking and fiddling to keep it running)?

This is a device that is borderline compatible - I expect it to perform adequately with Win 11.

So far everyone who has forced Win 11 on an incompatible device, has still gotten Windows Updates.

Yes cumulative updates still work. Feature updates will require an in-place repair in order to update.
I would recommend creating a system image of Windows 10 before upgrading in case of problems & you wish to roll back after the 10 days.

All updates wiil be installed through Windows Update like any other W11 machine. The only thing thast won't be offered in Windows Update will be the Feature Update to the next version of W11 (23H2?), when that is released next year. For that you'd need to do the in-place upgrade yourself, using a workaround.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

Meaning a non TMP ISO Mount which I do every feature update. I always link to my Google drive folder. Once Microsoft releases it, I'll create the ISO

I have a brand new PC and it is totally compatible with 22H2 but still havent recieved the update.
As far as NOT compatible machines I have seen forcing the update works good in 99 percent of cases
