Hi there
seems EVERYTHING is going subscription these days -- Ms teams has retired quite a useful version of "Ms Teams classic".

now they want $4.00 US a month -- OK it's not much but I've had it to the eyeballs will all this "Corporate Greed". Wait till Windows becomes subscription only -- its not that impossible to imagine this happening.

I still can't get the supposedly free version to (web PWA) to work in chrome either

still getting this :

Hi there

It's a LOAD of junk

1)No test video or audio as per previous classic live version -- I can't find one anywhere -- with the previous version you could send a test message with audio and video and it would replay on the local machine so you could see if your devices were working correctly.

2) How do you setup
audio and video devices.

I think I'll just have to rely on the version that comes with Office 2021 LTSC (not sure if it still works but I'll try it). Gives you the basic business version which must be better even if limited to 60 mins.

This new app just seems so basic that you might as well use two tin cans and a piece of string for messaging -- I might have missed something but I certainly can't find any settings.

And how do you EXIT the app -- can't seem to find any exit -- on the browser version you can close the browser session but the desktop version is even more a POS as there's no exit button. Even if you close the icon you get a message: teams is still running - you will continue to get notifications. So you have to go into task manager to cancel it. !!!!

Why on earth did they change the old one --it worked perfectly. Again this new rubbish app is a 100% POS.

Cheers

This happened ages ago.

If you subscribe to Office 365, you get 30 hours Teams per call included free in subscription.

The $4 you mention is for commercial users not domestic users.

Re. windows going to subscription - endless tedious rhetoric with no evidence.

I agree - but it's still annoying to have a perfectly good app replaced with one that is so useless that it's not worth installing. I just mentioned the subscription model for windows in as a jibe -- as you say there's no evidence for a W11 subscription unless you use a cloud based w11 desktop -- nothing wrong with that for appropriate (probably business) cases.
