fTPM/PSP NV corrupted -Gigabyte B550 Gaming / AMD Ryzen7 5800X(WIN10)

Hello there,
i dont realy know where to post this, so if i am at the wrong subcategory feel free to move it and i am sorry.

I already posted this on the tenforums and got redirected to ask here!

My pc is a super fresh build. Recently my system started to check / repair C when i was booting my pc.

Now my computer popped up the information i shared in the title and i could only get into windows by disabling the thing in the bios.

So i dont know how to prevent this in general or whats causing this issue but i want it "fixed"

Hardware (mentioned in title)
Gigabyte B550 Gaming / AMD Ryzen7 5800X(WIN10)

Bios up to dateI hope you guys can help me !

Hi. I don't usually turn off my PC when I go away from it. Once I came back, the screen was blank as per usual. I tried to turn the PC on, but nothing happened, so I hard-rebooted it. As

Because it worked for me, I was going to suggest clearing the TPM in the bios. I think Jeff's suggestion may have covered that.

You have to enter the BIOS when you first start your computer. Try tapping the esc key or one of the function keys when you first start your computer. In the bios there should be an option to either clear or reset the TPM. I don't know the BIOS your board has so I can't give you exact details. On my Old laptop I just had to look for TPM.

For a Gigabyte board it's usually the DEL key you need to press to get into BIOS.

People need to understand clearing the TPM should really be a last resort thing that should not be taken lightly....

Unless someone is using BitLocker, I don't see where it would be a problem. I had to clear the TPM on my old Acer Spin laptop to fix a problem with my pin number. If using a pin to login I would recommend making sure you can login with your password before clearing the TPM.

Do you even know what get cleared?

My old B450 R3 1600 won't boot with TPM on in the bios (winload BSOD)- so.......! Couldn't be bothered.

In my case, yes! The corrupted pin number was erased. After I setup my new pin number I never had a problem login in. I don't use BitLocker so there were no keys I had to worry about. Almost forgot to add that just changing the pin number from within Windows didn't help.

From reading the article the ones who have to worry are those who have keys in the TPM for protected data. For those who don't use BitLocker and have a working password to login to their computer I don't see a problem. I'm open to suggestions on other reasons why it's not a good idea to clear the TPM. That is how we learn. :)

Ah, the TPM can of worms raises its ugly head again. I agree with WinUser. If one is not using the features TPM controls (pin and bitlocker) then I can see no reason how resetting TPM would be a problem.

I didn't visit your link. "Why?" was an invitation for you to give a brief description of the potential issues.

Most of which, I think, are irrelevant to me. AFAIK, the only security code retained in my fTPMs is my Win11 PIN. I can't speak for others.
